A fun Room

This room is so much fun it just makes me smile although I don't think I would ever make my living room like this but maybe my art room. I think it would be quite stimulating and inspiring to be creative.

The space has very generous proportions considering the large furniture that is in it although some are pushed back to the walls. The white pole blends in very well because of the type of furnishing but is probably for structure purposes.

The room itself has very clean lines, out lined by white floor and ceiling, set off by the red wall paint. The room is mostly horizontal making it feel quite casual and relaxed. There are no cornices but just very crisp sharp corners emphasized by contrasting primary and secondary colours. The furniture also has very crisp lines, Like the simple orange lounge with white piping and the two single seater to the left made like the linear print that it is upholstered in, which makes you wonder which was made first. The large round short piled rug with circles with in circles of contrasting colours.

Repeating circles and squares with in the furniture and room bring this whole fun space together. The many white squares with a small simple coloured circle in the middle are very simple but so affective on the large red wall and bring a very play full aspect to the interior. These primary shapes are repeated through the furniture, the flooring and also the walls and ceiling.

The textures with in the room are contrasting again and are either shiny or dull / flat. The bright yellow shiny desk contrasts against the dull but bright orange lounge but matches the bright yellow soft pop art inspired single chair. The very shiny mirrored oval stand of the glass coffee table reflects colours and shapes obscuring them which relates to the globe sculptured yellow desk. The pattern within the two single chairs is very clean and crisp like the rest of the room.

Although I can't see the daylight light source in this room I can see there must be some floor to ceiling windows because of the amount of light coming into the room and that there hardly any shadows. The light is also aloud to stream into this room because of the placement of these very airy chairs letting the light come through them into the rest of the room. The only other light sources i can see are two very linear playful white table lights and white spot lights above the many square modern wall feature.

Balance is achieved in this informal fun room through the repetitiveness of the coloured furniture across the room from each other. The yellow desk across from the yellow single chair. the orange lounge across from the orange side table and the linear patterned chairs which match through the patterned cushions on the lounge.

Rhythm is created in this room because of all the repetitive shapes and colour but also picked out by some of the ornaments that keep the eye interested and circulating around the room like the bright orange and yellow vases and the bright red vase in the corner with the large elephant ear leaf which contrasts against the red wall but links to the green in the rug.

The vocal point in this room all comes back to the many white squares with coloured dots hung so precisely and symmetrical and emphasised by the very red wall. This wall feature is so simple but so effective and bring life into the room.

The proportions in this room are equal to one another. Nothing is too big or too small.

I feel this very colourful room is a complete success. All the elements within this room work together beautifully and there would be nothing I would take away or add to make it better.
