Computer Hardware Components
CPU (Central Processing Unit)
Your Name, Class Name, Class Time
Computer Hardware, page 3
The CPU is the primary component of hardware. It is the “Brain” of the computer system.
The CPU of a personal computer is the microprocessor.
The CPU measures the computer’s data processing speed. The measurement unit is MHz. For example, 400 MHz, 500 MHz, …. The higher the number, the faster the computer.

In order to process anything by CPU, the computer needs to remember what to do. That is what the computer memory involves.
There are two kinds of computer memory: ROM (Read Only Memory) and RAM (Random Access Memory).
Put the information below in a table (ROM, RAM, Input devices, Output and storage)
Memory
ROM
Permanent memory (information cannot be added or deleted)
Not very important to know the capacity when we buy the computer
RAM
Temporary memory (available while the computer is on)
Very important to know the capacity when we buy the computer

Information Flow
CPU reads instruction from ROM (and/or System Software).
CPU copies a file from the disk and stores it in RAM.
CPU takes the information from RAM.
CPU displays the information on the monitor.
