adybird Pre-School Limited POLICY NO: 7
Authorised: Peter Harrison Date: 18th February 2013
Staff Use of Personal Mobile Telephones
This Policy will define the Pre-School Management’s philosophy regarding the use of personal mobile telephones by staff when on duty at the Pre-School:
1. The Pre-school has an outside telephone line. This telephone system is for sole use by Pre-school staff in the pursuit of Pre-school business. Incoming calls may be accepted for staff ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS only, and at the discretion of the Manager.
2. Consequently, it is recognised that many staff may have personal mobile telephones which they will carry with them. This policy will lay down the conditions under which these mobile telephones may be used within the Pre-school setting during duty hours.
3. Primarily, staff are not permitted to carry or use personal mobile telephones with them on duty with the children. When reporting for duty, mobile telephones must be consigned to the staff member’s personal locker facilities. Missed calls may be retrieved later through the mobile telephone’s voice-mail system.
4. Staff may access their mobile telephones ONLY during their allocated break times.
5. Staff may access their mobile telephones ONLY within the confines of the staff rest facilities, or outside the Pre-school environment; in this respect it is emphasised that staff are NOT permitted to use their mobiles when on duty in the outdoor play areas.
6. The use of personal mobile phones is restricted ONLY to making calls. Staff are NOT PERMITTED under any circumstances, to use the camera facility on the phone on the Pre-school premises and / or during duty hours.
7. The Pre-school has a mobile phone which staff can access when taking children to, or collecting children from, school or going on outings.
8. This mobile telephone MUST be collected from the office prior to use, and returned to the office IMMEDIATELY upon return to the Pre-school.
9. Any breach of this Policy will result in disciplinary action being taken.
