This is going to all of Troop 243 and is the troop’s Weekly email for 4-11-16. This week is a troop meeting and the service patrol, which is supposed to arrive 15 minutes early and set up, is Blazing Amazing. All troop resources are always available at our web site,

1) The Flower Crew will be checking in orders about 15-20 minutes early before this week's meeting. THIS IS THE FINAL WEEK FOR TURN IN. Do not wait for the last minute, turn it in at the beginning of the meeting!! Don't forget to advertise the gift card option. It is noted on the sales sheet in the center on the back. They will get their certificates in the mail about a week or so prior to the sale. See you this week with lots of sales, I hope!
NOTE: Be thinking about when you want to commit to working on the big day as well. Wednesday the 27th is an ALL HANDS on setting up (with Cullen's new designs!!) during the scheduled meeting times and each scout is expected to work at some point during the Friday pull (4/29) and or the Saturday sales (4/30). Watch for sign up sheets at the meeting on April 13th. Please sign up!​
2) Anyone interested in starting a Pope Pius XII class please email Mrs Early at
by May 1. Participants need to be 13 or older and in high school at the time of classes. Class Dates will be determined after we know how big a class we will have.

4) STAR Camp @ EP Tom Sawyer Park
The Louisville Astronomical Society is inviting you out to their STAR camps! They will provide you and your Scouts everything needed to complete a majority of their Boy Scout Merit Badge. They will be hosting these camps at the LAS Urban Center (at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park), and the James G. Baker Center for Astronomy (Curby, Indiana). 5) Swim checks will be held at St. X’s pool on Wednesday May 4st 7-8:30PM. Passing this test as a certified BSA swimmer, is a requirement for anyone, including adults, who are participating in the canoe trip per BSA regulations. Only scouts who have completed the canoeing merit badge, are at least 14 years old, are first class and are classified as a swimmer will have the option to rent a kayak to travel down the river by themselves if that option is availble. This will be revoked without the refund of incremental money paid if behavior makes revocation necessary. Anyone who needs to take a retest or can’t make it to this specific test can contact Frank Hulsman individually. He has scheduled another session at the St. X pool on Saturday May 14th 1-2PM for Lincoln Heritage Council. You have to contact Mr. Hulsman ahead of time. You cannot just show up. Here is what you will need to do in the pool to be a swimmer. Jump feet first into water over the head in depth. Level off and swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy, resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be completed in one swim without stops and must include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating. Parents and guardians, it is particularly important that you please remember that you are committing to come get your scout should behavior become a problem.
6) Pack 756 will hold a pancake breakfast fund raiser on April 17th. It will be in the cafeteria of the JPII Hikes Lane Campus. For $5 you will receive pancakes, syrup, butter, sausage, Tang or Coffee. If the weather is clear they will cooking and making pancakes fly, outside.

Camp Crooked Creek and Camp Roy C. Manchester are both searching for an Aquatics Director to manage their waterfront programs. This is a great summer job with competitive pay and an opportunity to build leadership and management skills which could possibly be applied toward an internship. Candidate must be 21 or older, hold a current Red Cross or BSA Lifeguard certification including AED/CPR and attend National Camp School.
