DEPUTY HEADTEACHER SELECTION CRITERIA

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Qualified teacher status and evidence of high quality, inclusive teaching in the Primary phase.
Relevant further professional development.
Evidence of successful leadership of whole school developments, preferably in the Primary age range
Experience of working with others to improve classroom practice – through modelling and coaching.

KNOWLEDGE and PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

Understanding and ability to help to communicate a shared vision for the Academyin line with the ethos and values of the Academies Trust.
Understanding of the use of assessment data to match provision to the needs of pupils and to hold others to account for the performance of pupils.
Experience of modelling excellent practice and supporting others to improve their own classroom practice
Experience ofpromoting the development of positive behaviour for learning.
Experience of developinga highly engaging curriculum which promotes core communication skills and personal, social, and emotional development.
Ability to maintain and develop effective relationships and teamwork to bring about change.
Knowledge and experience of monitoring and evaluating the curriculum, learning and teaching
Ability to play a lead role in securing a safe and healthy learning environment and to manage the day to day running of the Academy.
Ability to promote the Academy to the wider community and involving that community in enriching the learning and social experiences of children
Knowledge and understanding of recent developments in education
