Dear Ms Redmond

Reference: CHS/9ZYDXF (MMU Site)

Thank you for your request for information which was received by Manchester City Council on 17 August 2015 and has been considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

You asked:

a) Please provide to me a copy of that letter / report to planners which I am informed resides on your planning portal for this application (the letter is from Children's services and presumed to be authored by John Edwards). Please provide all details of the costs for this school including set up costs and where the funding will be coming from?

b) Further please supply all data currently and forecast for the next three years for the demand for this new school in Didsbury.

In response to your request, please see below. I have interpreted your request as being in three parts.

1. Comments of the Director of Education and Skills on the outline planning application.

This is attached separately to the covering email.

2. Costs and source of funding

The Council does not hold details of the costs for this school because other than the outline plan for a school in the planning application, the Council has received no further information on the proposed design/build of the school. The funding, subject to final approval, will come from the Local Authority's basic need allocation.

3. Forecast of demand

The table below shows the place planning projections for the south planning area which we have provided to the Department of Education as part of our Schools Capacity Annual Projection (SCAP). As you can see from the table we are projecting an increase of at least 255 reception children in the next 5 years across this area. This will require an addition of at least 8 new forms of entry in reception across the school system within this 5 year period. New and additional school provision planned for Didsbury can all be accessed by children not necessarily living in Didsbury and could under our admissions arrangements be allocated to families living within a 2 mile distance from the school which would cover many of the wards included in south as well as other wards such as Benchill.
