This is a list (began in September, 2015) that aggregates resources on such topics as neuroscience, embodiment, emotion, contemplative studies, mindfulness, yoga and meditation, and related topic areas. This list is by no means exhaustive. In particular there are myriad articles and books in popular media that include “mindfulness” as a topic, key word, or practices related to mindfulness and contemplation. Like many other social and cultural practices, the “mindfulness movement” has been largely exclusionary to people of the global majority (people of color) and to a lesser degree queer and trans people, and those living with disabilities. Given that, the “Books” and “Popular Media Articles” section of this document reflects materials/authors that are addressing that are either talking about yogic philosophy, stress embodiment and/or epigenetics, and/or are directly addressing that disparity (ie no general popular articles that include the words “mindfulness”). If you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to connect!
