This is a CTS (Career and Technology Studies) Course
For every model completed the student will receive one credit.
Students learn to employ fundamental elements and principles of design for various media and gain a strong foundational multidisciplinary experience in preparation for other Communication Technology courses.
This is a new class that combines communication with technology. The introductory level gives students to tools needed to produce quality work for communication technology as well as the fundamental design guidelines that are industry standards. In this class we also have the opportunity to work with KAOS 91.1. We also will be using the Keyano Mac Lab. Because of partnerships and the use of equipment – Respect is very important. Therefore 25% of each module mark is based on behavior, attendance, and work station routines. What is comes down to is RESPECT – FOR teachers, students, and equipment!
Introductory
COM1005: VISUAL COMPOSITION (must complete this module first!)
Students learn to employ fundamental elements and principles of design for various media and gain a strong foundational multidisciplinary experience in preparation for other Communication Technology courses.
Prerequisite: None
Visual Composition is the perquisite for all modules!
Once all intro students completed Visual composition they can choose the following routes:
Animation Route – Modules created with animation perspective
COM1015: MEDIA (must complete this module second)

Prerequisite: COM1005: Visual Composition
COM1145: ANIMATION 1
Students are introduced to a variety of animation techniques and produce a simple animation; the focus is on basic skills, including planning, keyframing, stage set-up, and production, used to create a moving picture.
Prerequisite: COM1005: Visual Composition
COM1035: GRAPHICS TOOLS
Students are introduced to the basics of computer graphics (vector and raster), and graphic computer programs.
Prerequisite: COM1005: Visual Composition
COM1910: COM PROJECT A (Must complete min. 4 modules before you can create your own project!)
Students develop project design and management skills to extend and enhance competencies and skills in other CTS courses through contexts that are personally relevant.
COM1105: AUDIO/VIDEO

Prerequisite: COM1005: Visual Composition
COM1215: PHOTOGRAPHY – EXPOSURE
Students learn the technical and creative uses of aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and demonstrate how combinations ofthe three elements give very different results. Students also discover how a correct exposure is obtained through thecombination of shutter speed, aperture and ISO, which make up the photographic triangle.
Prerequisite: COM1005: Visual Composition
COM1275: PHOTOGRAPHY – DIGITAL PROCESSING 1
Students learn the fundamentals of consumer-based digital image acquisition, management, composition, manipulationand editing software to improve image composition.
