Kan Jam

This game has it all. It can be indoor or outdoor which is great, so on a bad weathered day, you can still have your game. Kan Jam consists of three (actually four) components which are:-

  • Your flying disc
  • Two goals which are portable
  • Rules
  • And of course yourselves

The standard distance between the goals is 50 feet. However, distance can be altered to accommodate different age and skill levels.

The object of the game is to score points by throwing/deflecting the flying disc and hitting or entering the goal. The game ends when a team scores exactly 21 points or an “Instant Win” is scored.

These are the general rules to Kan Jam.

  • Four players are involved in the game. Two players on each team
  • When in play, the players must remain behind the goal at all times. Do not pass the line in front of the goal!
  • No points are given to a player if your disc has been thrown and has hit the ground before hitting the goal.
  • No points are given if the partner of the thrower (deflector) catches, carries or double deflects the disc into the goal
  • Three points are given if the opposing team try to deflect a goal or interfere in any way if the team playing are winning
  • To win you must reach an exact score of 21, but if you go over21 then your points will be deducted from your current score and play continues. eg, if a team has 20 points and scores a “Bucket” (3 points), their score is reduced to 17.
  • A team must has the same number of turns for the game to end unless you have an ‘instant win’
  • If you have a tie then each team will have a game to break the tie. The team with the most points wins.

This is how the point system works.

  • Dinger (1 point) - When the disc is thrown, the deflector hits the disc and it hits the goal
  • Deuce (2 points) - The thrower hits the goal without the help of the partner
  • Bucket (3 points) - It’s a slam dunk! The deflector hits the disc and it either goes in the top of the goal or goes in through the side
  • Instant win - This happens when the thrower gets the disc in the goal without the help of the partner. The disc can either go into the top of the goal or in through the slot opening on the front. When this happens, that team is deemed the winners.
