This document will tell you which PC / laptop files, folders, programs, dll files and ini files you need and where they should be placed. Please refer to Alex Brown’s separate documentation for information on the microcontroller downloads and code.

1)The Leaf folder contains a program called “sysinfo.exe”. Run it to find your SystemRoot and Windows System directories.

For example, I’m using MicroSoft Windows XP. My SystemRoot directory is then C:\WINDOWS and my Windows System directory is C:\WINDOWS\system32.

The “Leaf directory” is C:\Program Files\Leaf. Create this folder now.

2)Robin Hewitt’s “Mavis” downloads include “fgclient.dll”, “mavisclient.dll” and “bmpUtils.dll”. These three dll files should be moved (not copied) into your Windows System directory.

There is also a file “mavis.ini” that should be moved to your SystemRoot directory.

The files “MavisCtl.exe” and “framecap.exe” should then be moved to C:\Program Files\Leaf.

3) Alex Brown’s “Nav and Control” downloads include a file “RComm.dll” that

should be moved into your Windows System directory.

The file FTD2XX.dll is the driver that communicates with the USB adapter on the microcontroller – this file should be moved into your Windows System directory.

The ini files “Animation.ini”, “NavAndControl.in”, “MicroConfig.ini”,

“MicroController.ini” and “Sensors.ini” should be moved into your

SystemRoot directory.

The folder “AnimationImages” should be placed in Leaf’s directory:

C\Program Files\Leaf.

And the program “Nav and Control.exe” should also be in Leaf’s directory:

C\Program Files\Leaf.

4) The Leaf download contains the files “Leaf.lisp” and “Leaf Interfaces.lisp” as well as the folders “Leaf Feelings” and “Leaf Sounds” that should all be put into the Leaf directory: C\Program Files\Leaf.

The Leaf download also includes the files “sysinfo.exe”, “Test.lisp”, “speech.xml” and “server.tcl” that should also be put in C\Program Files\Leaf.

There are two dll files “lwsapi5.dll” and “lwcuanim.dll” that need to stay in the Leaf directory: C\Program Files\Leaf.

And then there are two files “Phidget.dll” and “LeafX10.dll” that need to be

moved into your Windows System directory.

Well, that’s it – I hope that helps!
