Hair must cut at least twice per month.

b. Male cadets will always be clean-shaven except that a moustache may be worn if neatly trimmed.

c. Hair of female cadets, when in uniform, will be pinned and arranged so that it will not fall below the collar of the uniform being worn. Hair will not be worn in such a way that the uniform cover cannot be worn properly. Un-natural hair colors are not allowed at anytime.

2. Marines are to wear their uniform at least once a week and more if directed to do so by the Corps Commander.

This program is the most challenging for middle school students, because it requires them to become far more responsible for their actions both at home and school, however, without your help (Parents) the program will not provide the discipline and leadership we all want in our Junior Marines. The program base is teamwork and being responsible to your team and yourself as a Marine.

Your marine may have the opportunity to participate, if chosen, in the Silent Drill Team, Color Guard, Music Corps, and more.

HISTORY / BACKGROUND

AUTHORIZATION OF BEDICHEK JUNIOR MARINES

In spring of 2006, the Bedichek Junior Marines Corps was created. As per the direction of the Bedichek Middle School Principal, Gail Belcher, former Marine Staff Sergeant and current Bedichek teacher, Darrick A. Norton was assigned to become the first Bedichek Junior Marine Corps Commander.

Staff Sergeant Norton’s first mission was to start researching possible curriculum that would align the program to those curriculums’ of Language Arts, Math, History, Science, Technology, and Physical Fitness. After countless hours of cross-referencing the material to that of the districts requirements, the Corps curriculum was created. The focus will continue on increasing the program status and visibility within the community.

After the completion of the Curriculum, SSgt Norton started the recruiting process. Using leaflets and posters around the Bedichek campus, SSgt Norton was able to recruit 44 cadets for the fall 2006 semester of classes. When classes resume for the 2007-2008 school year, the BJMC will have grown to 75 cadets. As the result of the hard work of the Junior Marines and the student bodies desire to become leaders, the program has grown to 150 cadets for the 2008-2009 school year.

CONDUCT, BEARING & DISCIPLINE

SCHOOL CITIZENSHIP

Bedichek Junior Marine cadets are middle school students. They are fully expected to conduct themselves in accordance with all school rules and regulations. Any cadet failing to maintain higher standards of conduct and citizenship will not be permitted to remain in the Bedichek Junior Marine Corps Program.

PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION

Cadets will not display any gestures of affection in school or on school grounds. This holds especially true when in uniform and pertains to kissing, hugging, embracing, holding hands, or other forms of intimate behavior. Affection between a man and a woman should be a private matter, and as such any displays of affection should be done in private. Cadets who think they are showing off their maturity by kissing and hugging in public are only displaying a lack of maturity and risking a lower Bedichek Junior Marine grade for their conduct and will have extra duties to complete at the next available time.

DAILY CADET CONDUCT

Cadets arrive on time for every class; greet all instructors on the way into class.

Cadets contribute to every class with appropriate answers to questions.

Cadets wear appropriate and proper fitting clothing.

Cadets strive to improve themselves continuously.

Cadets honor their word. – Do what they say they will do!!

Cadets demonstrate initiative by doing things without being told to do so.

Cadets treat others with dignity and respect regardless of race, religion or gender.

Cadets take care of each other.
