Chapters 1-10

Chapter 1:

1. Bobby first realizes that he’s invisible in the bathroom.

2. Bobby first tells his parents about his invisibility.

3. Bobby’s father is a physicist.

4. Bobby’s mother is a literature professor at the University of Chicago.

Chapter 2:

1. Bobby’s father says “Bingo” too much.

2. We learn that Bobby likes to read.

3. Bobby’s parents both go to work while he is asleep.

Chapter 3:

1. The first place Bobby goes outside of his house is the library.

2. Bobby is very alert because he has to be naked in order to be invisible.

3. Everyone is so busy at the library because they are studying for midterms.

4. Bobby gets hurt at the library while helping a girl; she runs over his toe with her chair.

5. Bobby realizes the girl that he bumps into as he is leaving the library is blind.

Chapter 4:

1. Bobby says “See you around” to the blind girl which was incorrect because it was insensitive and she can’t see him.

2. Bobby feels powerful when he realizes that he can see his dad’s face but his father can’t see his expressions.

3. Bobby’s parents get into a car accident.

4. Bobby learns of their accident while watching the evening news.

Chapter 5:

1. Two police officers stop by the house to tell Bobby about the car accident and where his parents are.

2. The doctor tells Bobby that he must find an adult to stay with him while his parents are in the hospital. He also has to call back once he has made arrangements.

3. Mom suggests that Bobby’s Aunt Ethel should stay with him. This is a “good story” because she lives in Miami, Florida.

Chapter 6:

1. Bobby gets to the hospital by taking a taxi cab.

2. Bobby decides to go to the emergency room to find out where his parents are.

3. Bobby hides his clothes under a blanket on a bed in the shape of a body and then creates a fake chart for the person.

4. Bobby goes to his mother’s room in 5067.

5. Bobby notices for the first time that his mother has some grey hair.

6. Bobby hides under his mom’s bed when the doctors enter the room. He doesn’t want anyone to bump into him and discover him there.

7. Mom gives Bobby $20. He rolls it up and hides it in his hand.

Chapter 7:

1. Bobby forgets to call his mother when he gets home.

2. Bobby admits that he is always a little afraid of the dark.

3. The alarm system is supposed to make Bobby feel safe but it doesn’t.

4. Bobby turns on the TV, music, all the lights, chats on-line and locks himself in his room to try to make himself feel better.

5. Bobby remembers the quote, “There is nothing to fear but fear itself” which helps to calm himself down.

Chapter 8:

1. When Bobby’s dad suggests they come up with a theory, Bobby would prefer to look for clues and take action.

2. The neighbor, Mrs. Trent, puts the plate of cookies on the ground far from the door so that she could see from her window whoever comes out to get them.

3. Bobby disguises himself as a woman (Aunt Ethel) and dresses in a pink robe and a towel on his head to get the cookies.

4. Bobby goes for a walk outside because he wants to feel in control again.

Chapter 9:

1. Bobby compares himself to a Lone Greek Warrior because he is so alert from being naked.

2. Bobby first goes to his school to watch the children and teachers.

3. He next goes to the University library so that he can relax.

4. He also is hoping to warm up because it is cold outside and he is naked.

Chapter 10:

1. The girl is listening to an audio book in the listening room.

2. Some things Bobby has in common with the girl are: they’ve both read The Scarlett Letter, they both like action books, both their parents work for the university, and both their dads are nerds.

3. Bobby almost leaves the listening room because the girl is very sarcastic and upset after he asks her about her blindness.
