1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.5.1 Installer: Licensed in the jurisdiction of the project and experienced in general construction practices.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant the precaution. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider the major different types of work on the project.

1.5.2 Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

1.5.2.1 Mock-up area designated by Architect.

1.5.2.2 Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship and appearance are approved by Architect.

1.5.2.3 Subject to approval by Architect, mock-up may be retained as part of finish work.

1.5.3 Pre-Installation Meetings: Conduct pre-installation meetings to verify project requirements, substrate conditions, construction documents, details and manufacturer's warranty requirements.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

1.6.1 Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation. Store brick off the ground to prevent contamination by mud, dust or other materials likely to cause staining or other defects.

1.6.2 Store materials protected from exposure to harmful environmental conditions and at temperature and humidity conditions recommended by the manufacturer. Store different types of materials separately.

1.6.3 Handle materials such that they are not damaged, including breakage, bending or contamination.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.7.1 Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8 WARRANTY

1.8.1 Manufacturer's Warranty: Manufacturer's standard 50 year limited warranty document executed by authorized company official.

2.2.4 Screws and Anchors:

2.2.6.2 Window, Door and Openings Flashing: 4 in (102 mm) wide minimum.

2.2.7 Sealant: Silicone II. Silicone sealant meeting ASTM C920 Type S, NS, Class 25 use NT, G, A & O.

2.2.7.1 Manufacturer: General Electric.

2.2.7.2 At locations indicated by Drawings and manufacturer's installation instructions;

2.2.8 Mortar: ASTM C 270 Type N Mortar Cement with polymer additives for workability and durability. ASTM C 144 sand is included in the 80 lb bags. Redland Brick alternatives are acceptable.

3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION AND PREPARATION

3.1.1 If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions.

3.1.2 Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been properly prepared and deviations from manufacturer's recommended tolerances are corrected. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.1.2.1 Select and mix brick from several pallets to blend colors and assure proper color distribution throughout the masonry.

3.1.2.2 Clean window, door and opening frames prior to installing self-adhesive flashing.

3.1.3 Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.

3.2 INSTALLATION

3.2.1 Prepare substrates and install in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations as applicable to specified application.

3.2.2 Install products in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved submittals and the following:

3.2.2.1 Do not apply building wrap containing tears or holes.

3.2.2.2 Do not move rails after anchors or screws are installed, removed or broken. This could damage the wrap leading to substrate water intrusion.

3.2.2.3 Damage to building wrap requires removal of enough siding to replace the wrap in accordance with installation instructions, including proper horizontal and vertical lapping.

3.2.2.4 Corner Flashing must be installed over the Building Wrap under all expansion and control joints in the Siding, whether indicated on the Drawings or not.

3.2.3 Coordinate with installation of other Work.

3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTION

3.3.1 Remove excess sealant and mortar in accordance per manufacturer's written instructions.

3.3.2 Clean site of debris and remove unused materials.

3.3.3 Protect installed Work from damage during installation and remainder of construction period, per manufacturer's written instructions.
