STREET PARKING PLACES) (AMENDMENT No 5) ORDER 2015

The Kent County Council, in exercise of their powers and under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2), 32(1), 35(1), 44, 45, 46, 49 and 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act hereby make the following Order:-

The Kent County Council (Various Roads, Thanet) (Traffic Regulation and Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2014 shall have effect as though:

In the Schedules to the Order

Roads in Broadstairs in the District of Thanet

The following to be inserted in the First Schedule (no waiting at any time) in place of the existing entry-

HIGH STREET (ST PETERS)

(1) On the north-eastern side from the south-eastern kerb line of Church Street to a point opposite the boundary of 43/45 High Street.

(2) On the south-western side

(a) from the junction with Vicarage Street to a point in line with the north-western boundary wall of 12a High Street;

(b) from a point in line with the boundary of 22/24 High Street for a distance of 15 metres in a south-easterly direction;

(c) from a point in line with the boundary of 34/36 High Street to a point 10 metres east of the junction with Ranelagh Grove.

This Order shall come into force on the 10th day of March 2015 and may be cited as The Kent County Council (Various Roads, Thanet) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) (Amendment No 5) Order 2015

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of the provisions contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that any requirement of any such enabling Act or of any regulations made thereunder have not been complied with may within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made make application to the High Court for this purpose

STATEMENT OF REASONS

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, THANET) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES) (AMENDMENT No 5) ORDER 2015

Kent County Council Highways and Transportation make the above named Traffic Regulation Order in the interest of:

  • For facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).
  • For preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which to road runs.

The effect of this Order will be to introduce a prohibition of waiting at any time on the following lengths:

Road Name / Distance
High Street, St. Peter’s / from a point in line with the boundary of 22/24 High Street for a distance of 15 metres in a south-easterly direction;

Notice is hereby given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL have made the above named Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 49 and 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act:

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit waiting at any time at the following locations:-

High Street, St. Peter’s / from a point in line with the boundary of 22/24 High Street for a distance of 15 metres in a south-easterly direction;

This proposal is in the interest of facilitating the passage of vehicular traffic on the road due to parked vehicles and improving Road Safety.

A copy of the proposed Order, the relevant map and statement of reasons can be inspected during normal office hours at Kent County Council, Ashford Highway Depot, Javelin Way, Ashford, Kent, TN24 8AD and at County Hall, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1XQ.
