These 2-day workshops offer advanced level training suitable for those who are accustomed to working with complex issues and comprise of theoretical framework, background reading material, self exploration, casework and demonstration.
They have also been an invaluable grounding for those entering this field who want to be more fully equipped for the demands of the work.
They are not basic awareness or introductory level training.
Each workshop consists of two 6 hour days and counts towards 12 hours of CPD. Certificates will be given on completion.

Insidious Impact and Vicarious Trauma


*The nature of empathy (the spectrum and fundamental aspect of humanity and connectedness, congruent communication)
*The impact of trauma (silence, secrecy and confusion)
*The unspoken (acceptance/rejection, a framework to understand and explore merging/withdrawal)
*Somatic reactions (adrenaline, sexuality, dissociative experiences)
*Developing understanding of "professional" vs. "personal" processes (aspects of supervision, commitment to self-care)

Caran Shergold has worked in the area of sexual abuse/trauma, as a counsellor, supervisor and trainer for 15yrs. Caran is a Person Centred Practioner, however the workshops offered through Opening Pandora’s Box training provides a model which is accessible to all theoretical approaches.
