wipro paper 16th jan,2010
Hi friends I mSubrat Kumar Senapatifromsilicon institute of technology (EEE). Wipro came as on-campus to our college on 17thof Jan, 2010. 371 students were eligible for Wipro out of which223students cleared the written. Finally 91 students were selected after PI. And I was one of those91lucky students. I m sharing my experience n hope this will help u a lot.
There were 3 rounds in the selection procedure-
- Written.
- technical pi
- HR pi
WRITTEN:For the 1sttime Wipro was conducting its written test online. There were 3 sections, each section having sectional cutoff. In our tym the sectional cutoff was 40% of each section.
i.English- was quiet easy in comparison to other company (TCS, Infy). There were 2 questions on jumbled up words, 3 questions on dictionary meaning (multiple meaning of a word), 3 Qn on fill in the blanks, 2 quesn on antonym………but the questions were average….
ii.Aptitude– was also easy, 20 questions (train, percentage, interest, ratio, proportion etc.) R.s Agrawal is sufficient……
iii.Technical- it was the toughest section .10 questions (C, C++, OS),output of two programs…
iv.Essay Writing: Afterthe online written test an essay writing section was there. They gave us 10 min and the topic was “ Expansion, Inclusion and Excellence – factors affecting our education system “
TECHNICAL PI:
As I heard before that it was the toughest round …i was a bit nervous about it….the HR was very frndly. My tech interview went for 30 mins…1st5 to 10 min I was a bit nervous but I managed well the rest 20 min…here r some questions that he asked me.
Me: may I come in sir?
HR: yes get in. Please have ur seat.
Me: thank u sir.
HR: so u r subrat ryt?
Me : yes sir.
HR: so subrat tell me something abt urself.
Me: answered..
HR: y software though u belong to EEE?
Me : sir my elder brother is in IBM n he always inspired me …moreover I was exposed to some languages lyk C,C++ and I found them quite interesting ……n bla bla bla …he was impressed by my ans.
HR: wat r ur hobbies subrat?
ME: answered (listening music, solving sudoku puzzles) be prepared to answer every question on ur hobbies frnds….
HR : wat was the project u have done ?
ME: sir it was designing of resonant converter using micro-controller….
HR : tell me briefly about ur project….
ME : I was expecting dis question..so I was well prepared for it . I did nt miss this opportunity to impress the HR and explained completely for 10 min. from his expressions it was clear that he was satisfied by my explanation.
HR: wat r the languages that u have read in ur previous sems ?
ME : sir C, C++ , DATA STRUCTURE …I tried to hide RDBMS coz I was not fundamentally clear abt dat…..
HR : u hav not read RDBMS ?
ME : yes sir.
HR : lets start with RDBMS and C++ . ok ?
ME : sir I have read those subjects but have forgot most of the parts …..but sir I m very gud at C…
HR : he smiled and said WOW ! (though I did nt figure it out y did he say dat )
So let me ask u questins on C….
ME : sure sir.
HR : ok write a program for finding out prime numbers between 2 given numbers a and b.
ME : tried a lot but …cudnt write the actual program.
HR : r u done?
ME : sir I know the algorithm but I need some tym to write the program .if u say I can explain the algorithm.
HR : plz
ME : explained well but he seemed confused…is there any other wayhe asked. I said no sir dis is the only way to find out ….
HR : leave it subrat . Can u solve a puzzle for me?
ME: sure sir.i would love to.
HR: there are 2 poles of length 15m. and a rope of 16m. the rope was tied to the top of the tower and the sag was 8m. so wat is the distance between the two poles ?
ME: I draw the diagram and tried to find out….though it was a simple problem of sag problem I could nt find it out coz I hav forgot the formula. but I tried as if I know how to solve…..but finally cud nt get the answer
HR :it’s a easy question subrat ….its not so difficult as u think…ok leave it…another puzzle….
There r 11 students in a class .ram has 11 apples in a basket .how the apples should be distributedamong the students so dat each of the will get 1 apple and 1 apple will be there in the basket?
ME : I asked him whether Ram is one of the 11 or not ?
HR : he smiled and said I did nt say dat.
ME : sir if ram is one of the 11 students then he will giv 10 apples to 10 students and the last apple he will keep with himself in the basket.
HR : Smiled and said very gud .this is the ryt answer.
The Hr was impressed by the last answer coz this question has been asked to 3/4 students before and nobody has answered correctly…..
HR : ok subrat do u hav any questions for us ?
ME : sir wat r the expectations of the company from the freshers ?(don’t let this chance go frnds….ask impressive questions….)
HR : we r looking for gud ,enthusiastic people who hav a learning attitude…..bla bla bla….
HR: do u have any other questions subrat?
ME : no sir.
HR : handed me the pink and white form…and said all the best for HR…..
ME : Thank u very much sir.
HR PI:
After the technical round I was very confident…and excited to go to the HR round….Guess y??? coz the HR was a lady and she was gorgeous . Wow I couldn’t forget his charming face. All of a sudden I remembered that my HR interview is still not done…..i controlled my feelings and entered the room
ME: may I com in mam ?
HR: yes com in . Plz hav ur seat.
ME : thank u mam.
HR : u r subrat ryt ?
ME : yes mam.
HR : so subrat how was ur technical pi ?
ME : it was fine mam.
HR : was it tough or easy ?
ME : mam it was neither very tough nor quite easy….the sir in the tech pi was very friendly and cooperative…over all it went well mam..
HR: gud . Subrat y do u want this job?
ME : applied my bramhastra and said mam frankly speaking the financial condition of my family is not gud and at this tym my family needs an extra earning member…
HR : looked surprised and asked for this reason only u want this job?
ME : no mam besides that I want to excel my self in gud company lyk urs…learn and grow….and bla bla bla……..
HR: ok.
My eye contact with the HR was not so gud coz my eyes were mislead elsewhere….u know…but I was trying my best to look in to her face….
HR: subrat u appeared for infy ?
ME : yes mam.
HR : how was ur interview ?
ME : mam I will say it was average….(though it was excellent and I was selected in infy I had to lie.. )
HR : y ?
ME : mam it was my 1stinterview and I was quite nervous .
HR : wat do u think nervousness is gud or bad ?
ME: mam enough of everything is bad. But little bit of nervousness is gud. It makes u more conscious.
HR : gud. Wat r ur hobbies subrat?
ME : mam listening to movie songs. Especially recent bollywood movie songs.(written on CV)
HR : wat was the recent movie u have seen ?
ME : mam it was 3- idiots.
HR : wat was the movie about ?
ME : answered.
HR:do u agree with the movie and aamir ?
ME : yes mam definitely…coz our education system needs a change that wll wipe out the stress from the students….bla bla bla…..
HR : u said students in IITs are committing suicide ryt ? y is it so ? wat r the factors that r forcingdem to do dat ?
ME : one of the major factor is the education system, one also parents are responsible to some extent…..then explained how…..
HR: wat is the difference between ur college and IITs.. ?
ME : answered ………
HR : u have written the essay “ Expansion ,Inclusion, Excellence- factors………” explain me about these factors …how really the r ruining this system. ?
ME : explained
HR: ok subrat u r done…best of luck for the results that to be out in the evening.
ME : thank u mam.
My HR round went for 25 min…but I enjoyed it a lot …u know y…..he he…
At 10:30 pm our results were out…and by god grace I was one of the selected 91 students…..thanks to my parents ,my faculties and of course my frnds(Bikash, Biswa,Srimad, DS) without whom I cud nt have made it….thank u very much….
I must tell u one thing frnds campus is all abt fortune ,luck…..its60 % luck and 40% of ur hardwork ,knowledge…..but frnds fortune favors the brave ….sobe confident and staypositiveu will definitely crack through…..all the very best guys n gals…..
