National Building Museum Field Trip:

We need supplies for our upcoming field trip! Students are bringing home a list. I have also included it here. Please bring in all materials by Friday, February 21st. Supplies Needed for Field Trip

We are going to the National Building Museum on February 25th. The cost is $13. I will be needing four chaperones. If you are interested in chaperoning, please complete the permission slip and return to school ASAP. Chaperones will be randomly selected.

Scholastic Books:

If you would like to purchase books from Scholastic, please order online using our classroom code,LBMQN. You can also use this link, When you order books using our classroom code, we earn free books for our classroom library.

Volunteering:

Class Updates

In Writing, we discussed ways to make a conclusion that summarizes our main points. Students continued writing their opinion writing piece for whether they agree with the author's point of view that Irene was brave.

In Reading, students continued working on their country research project.

Students had Art today.

In Math, we measured our shoe to the nearest half inch and created a line plot to display the data. We discussed reasons for why line plots are more helpful than a data table or chart.

In Science, students brainstormed a list of objects that give off light and heat. They ranked their objects based on which gives off the least to most amount of heat. We discussed reasons for why some objects give off more heat than others. We concluded that over the years some objects have been changed to give off less heat in order to make them more eco-friendly.

In Writing, we discussed the difference between main idea and theme. We identified the main idea and theme of Brave Irene. Students continued writing their opinion writing piece for whether they agree with the author's point of view that Irene was brave.

In Reading, we continued reading Anna, Grandpa, and the Big Storm. We identified how elements of the story change. We identified Anna and Grandpa's point of view and how it has changed throughout the book.

Students worked on typing elements of their country research project in the computer lab.

In Math, we compared number lines to rulers. We used rulers to identify halves and fourths. We measured objects to the nearest fourth. We identified the relationship between halves and fourths.

In Social Studies, students continued working on their country research project.
