Wellington Management Hong Kong Ltd – Beijing Representative Office

July to December 2016|Beijing

We seek to develop interns and early career hires through an apprenticeship model that offers extensive interaction with investors based in our global offices. In this role, you will have in-depth exposure to companies and markets as you assist our investors in conducting independent research.

There are several components to the internship experience:

  • Independence.Working from our Beijing office, you will complete analytical projects for one or more of our investment teams. These teams are based in Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Tokyo or the US. You will work independently to deliver unique insights on Chinese companies.
  • Global perspective. You will join our daily Morning Meetings and become immersed in the world of global investing while getting to know investors from throughout the Wellington organization.
  • Impact. You will leverage your language and analytical skills and your local knowledge of China to help our investors make timely buy and sell decisions. You will develop and deepen your investment knowledge by attending company management meetings and industry conferences.
  • Mentorship and feedback. You will benefit from the training provided to develop the skills required for this internship, and a potential career in investment management. This will be through a combination of on-the-job training covering accounting, financial statement analysis, Excel modeling and Bloomberg tutorials. You will receive continued support through regular interaction with senior management and investors located across the region and the globe.

Qualifications

We seek dedicated undergraduate or masters-level individuals with excellent academic credentials and demonstrated analytical and writing abilities. Candidates should possess outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, be resourceful and detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic. We are looking for interns who have a passion for gathering information, are inquisitive, and can draw connections between, or recognize patterns among, seemingly disparate topics. An economics or finance major is not a prerequisite, but candidates must be proficient with Excel and have an interest in a career in finance. Fluency in written and spoken business English and Mandarin Chinese is required. As a successful internship can lead to a full-time offer for our Launch Research Associate programme, only students in their penultimate of study are encouraged to apply.

This internship will run from July to December 2016.
