There are alternative programs that exist to help students get a diploma who seem to be struggling in a regular school environment.

Bradford Programs

Summer School This is a program designed to help students make up credits not earned during the school year. Call Bradford’s Office Of Student Management for more information at 653-6204.

Bridges This program is designed to make a large school feel smaller providing students with help struggling in the academic areas (English, Social Studies, Science and Math). Class sizes tend to be smaller, which allows for closer connections with students and more help readily available. Good attendance and parental contact are required for the program. Students must apply for this program. Call the Bridges Program directly at 653-7588 or get an application from a guidance counselor.

HSED(High School Equivalency Diploma) This is a program that prepares students to take the GED once they turn 18. Reuther Programs

Accelerated Independent Study – MUST BE 16 YEARS OLD The AIS program gives students the opportunity to complete high school courses at a faster pace than traditional high school classes. Students work independently on courses during class time and receive credit as soon as they have demonstrated mastery of the course content. Three separate sessions of classes will be offered throughout the day and evening (M- F; 8:30-11:30 OR 12:00-3:00 OR 4:45-8:30). Students will complete work using instructional computers as well as appropriate methodologies. This program will give students the opportunity to graduate early from high school, and allows students that are behind in credits to catch up and graduate on time.

Students must: have reading and math abilities at the 4th stanine or higher on the WKCE, be 16 years old, be credit deficient, have good attendance at previous school and be independent learners.

Real Program: This program is offered to students who are 16 years old and have been through 2 years of high school unless the student is credit deficient and age inappropriate (1year h.s. but 17 yrs old). This program is supportive of a student who does not test well (WKCE scores are below the 4th stanine). There is a teacher in the class; it is a 26-credit diploma requirement. Students are taught in small groups. Classes are a pass/fail. Job Placement is 8:45-11:10 and academics are 12:40-3:05. Past attendance is considered but is not a barrier.

Transition Program: Must be 16 years or older. Offered to students with AODA/Psychiatric or medical issues. The program is 2-hrs.a day for 4 days a week. It is a 26-credit diploma through Accelerated Independent Study Curriculum; students must take ITED for credit to be completed. Past testing of 4th stanine or above would be important.

Links Program: This is a program for students who should have already graduated. Attendance is important. Students complete work through Accelerated Independent Study. Program meets M-Th from 7:30-4:30.

Skill Building This is a program designed to help 17 & 18-year-old students prepare to take the ITED test. Students who test proficient in expression, reading, literature, social studies, science, sources of information and mathematics. In order to take the exam, student must have successfully completed Government & Politics, Health, Consumer Education, and a WKCE writing score of 4.0 and employed for 6 months As long as a student is sincere in the program, past attendance is not held against them. Program meets M-Th 7:30-4:30.

Credit Completion – MUST BE 16 YEARS OLD This is an after school program Monday through Thursday from 3:20 – 4:35. This allows students to remain Bradford students, but catch up in credits at Reuther. I only recommend this program if the students is behind in a few credits, not multiple.

Bridges The teachers in the program designed a program with total integration of academic and elective courses that allows students to earn accelerated credit. Expeditionary Learning is the central instructional focus of the program.
