1.1RegionalJobsFund
TheprimaryaimoftheRegionalJobsFund(RJF)is tofacilitatejobcreationandretainexistingjobs.Itis
targetedatassistingregionalbusinessestogrowtheir workforce,expandmarketsandcreatejobsofthe future.Itwillattractandfacilitateinvestmentwitha focusonregionalcompetitiveadvantageorhighgrowthpotentialbusinesses.
Itwillalsohelpdiversifytheregionalemploymentbase.Thefundaimstoimproveregionalcapabilitiestoinnovate andcapitaliseonthepotentialofemergingindustrysectorsandnewexportmarkets.
TheRJFwillprovidesupportforstrategicprojectsandinfrastructureinthefollowingfourprogramstreams:

2.InvestmentAttraction
Highperformingbusinessesunderpinjobsgrowth,exportsandeconomiccompetitivenessinregionalVictoria.Achievinggrowthinthenumber,scaleand/
orproductivityoftheseregionalbusinessescanhavea significantimpactontheeconomicoutputoftheregionin whichtheyoperate.
Thisprogramstreamaimstogrowexistingorattractnew businessesandindustriestoregionalVictoria.Ithas
afocusonregionalcompetitiveadvantageandhigh-growthpotentialbusinessesandopportunitiesthatcreatenewjobsorretainexistingjobsinregionalVictoria.
Theprogramwillbeflexibletoindustryneedsbutalso targetedtowardssupportingactivitiesthatenablethe realisationofanidentifiedbusinessgrowthopportunity.Thisincludesfootlooseinvestmentattraction,investment infacilitiesexpansionandstrategicindustryinvestment planning.
TheInvestmentAttractionprogramstreamisbasedon thedevelopmentofastrongandstrategicunderstandingbetweenRegionalDevelopmentVictoria(RDV)andindividualcompanies.Thefocusisonthecompany’sgrowthpotentialofcompaniesandtheirabilitytodeliverjobsintoregionalVictoria.
TheVictorianGovernment’sBacktoWorkplanhas identifiedanumberofhighgrowthsectorswhichwill betargetedforfuturejobgrowth.Theinvestment
attractionprogramstreamwillfocusonareasofregionalcompetitiveadvantageandgivepreferencetoproposalsthatseektoinvestandcreatejobsinpotentialhighgrowthandemergingsectorsincludingbutnotlimitedto:
foodandfibre
professionalservices
newenergytechnology
medicaltechnology,lifesciencesandhealthcare
transport,defenceandconstructiontechnology
internationaleducation
thevisitoreconomy.
2.1Activitiesthatwillbeconsidered
ThroughtheInvestmentAttractionprogramstream supportmaybeavailablefor:
newinvestmentorbringingforwardinvestmentin existingregionalbusinessesthatcreatesjobs
targetedinvestmentassistanceandincentivesfor businessestomoveto,orexpandinto,regionalVictoriainvolvingnewcapitalinvestmentandjobcreation
introductionofnewmanufacturingcapability,newtechnology,processchangeorplantmodernisation,whichresultsinbusinessgrowthandjobscreation
opportunitiestogrowemergingbusinessesor diversifyexistingoperations.

3. Applicationprocess

Applicantswillberequiredtodemonstratetheproject’sabilitytoaddresseachofthecoreRJFcriteriaoutlinedintheapplicationguidelines.
Applicationswillalsoneedtodemonstrate:

howgovernmentassistancewillinfluencean investmentdecisionwhichisalreadyunderconsideration.
