THEMES DERIVED FROM A WRINKLE IN TIME

KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM / LOVE
-Knowledge is produced by being receptive to one’s surroundings rather than by seeking to dominate them.
-Knowledge comes from experience.
-Being aware that you don’t know everything is powerful.
-Knowledge is a recognition of one’s own limitations and mistakes.
-Just because you don’t understand something does not mean it does not matter
-We learn from people we love.
-We have to accept things we don’t understand.
-You can know something without necessarily being able to put it into words.
-Feeling, not reason, makes for more accurate judgment most of the time
-Understanding that which is reality is too big for our heads
-We are conditioned to believe something to be good
-Our mind and body can only perceive so much. We need help to perceive beyond ourselves.
-The only things worth knowing are the ones that can’t be put into words, but those are also the only things worth trying to explain / -Love conquers all else in its path
-Love can allow a person to see beyond the surfaces, to get at the truth that’s lying underneath
-Love is a force of good because it promotes interest in others over self-interest.
-Love and fear are opposites
-When you feel loved it is hard to fear
-Be grateful when someone loves you
-Unconditional love is desirable
-Evil destroys love
-Love in action saves lives
-Love is salvation
-Love heals
APPEARANCES AND FITTING IN / LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION
-You cannot determine how something is based on how it looks.
-How something looks is often how we respond to it.
-Appearance can help us determine how a thing is.
-It is hard for us to hide who we are
-Things that are seen are temporal (temporary). Things which are not seen are eternal (last forever).
-Being different is a struggle but it is worth it because it is liberating
-Being true to who you are takes courage
-We have to hide who we are if we are different so people don’t hate us
-When you try to make everything the same, you create death of the spirit / -The joy of expressing one’s thoughts and being understood by another person is a miraculous thing, and should be appreciated as such.
-What you say is what you are.
-We communicate how we are through our body movements
-It is hard to put truth into your own words unless it is your own truth
-If someone literally doesn’t see the world the same way as you, it’s very difficult to find the words that will make them understand your meaning
FATE AND FREEWILL / GOOD VERSUS EVIL
-Happiness is meaningless in the absence of free will.
-It is evil to make everyone be the same.
-The act of predicting something to happen can cause it to happen
-Follow your gut response
-Making your own decisions and thinking for yourself can lead to pain, but it is better to think for yourself than to be controlled by another
-Have a strong will and you will get what you want
-You have to have faith that something will work out or nothing will get done / -Good and evil can sometimes look a lot alike
-Evil is fundamentally irrational
-To be evil is to want everyone to be like you
-Evil is inflexibility, stiffness
-Good and evil are sensory experiences (experiences based on the senses)
-Love destroys evil
-Use your weakness as an advantage when you are fighting
-Nothing can grow in an evil state
-Fight darkness and evil through light and love
FEAR / TIME
-The bravest hero of all is not the one who fears nothing, but rather the one that faces her fears and conquers them
-Forewarned is forearmed
-Fear is illogical
-Fear is not feeling safe
-Anger dissipates fear
-The real hero is not the person who does something without fear but the one who is scared but does it anyway
-Fear heightens your awareness of reality
-Make decisions based on love and not based on fear / -Emotional and intellectual connections transcend space and time.
-Natural development can’t be hurried
-Our understanding of time is arbitrary
-Time has no meaning and is inauthentic
