V.SCRIPTURE PASSAGE

Lector/priest:

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.

“Here is my servant, whom I have chosen, the one I love, and with whom I am pleased.

I will send my Spirit upon him, and he will announce my judgement to the nations.

He will not argue or shout, or make loud speeches in the streets.

He will not break off a bent reed, or put out a flickering lamp.

He will persist until he causes justice to triumph,

and in him all peoples will put their hope.”

The Gospel of the Lord

All:Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

COMMENTATOR:Please be seated and silently meditate on the message of the Word of God. (5 minutes)

VI.POINTS FOR REFLECTION

PRIEST:

From "The Church of Mercy" by Pope Francis

God indeedd is waiting for you; he asks of you only the courage to go to him. How many times in my pastoral ministry have I heard it said, “Father, I have many sins”? And I have always pleaded, “Don’t be afraid, go to him, he is waiting for you, he will take care of everything.” We hear many offers from the world around us; but let us take up God’s offer instead: his is a caress of love. For God, we are not numbers, we are important; indeed we are the most important thing to him. Even if we are sinners, we are what is closest to his heart.

(SILENT ADORATION – 15 minutes)

COMMENTATOR: Please all stand

VII.INTERCESSORY PRAYERS:

PRIEST:As a pilgrim people seeking Christ’s gift of everlasting life, let us pray for all people according to their needs.

Response:LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

Lector: For our Holy Father, Francis, our Bishop, Jesse, and for all who lead the Church throughout the world.

For our nation, its government, and for nations and leaders throughout the world, we pray to the Lord…

For all us, that we may work together in building a nation of peace, harmony and respect for the dignity of human life, we pray to the Lord...

For the poor and the sick, for those who are persecuted or imprisoned; for victims of hatred and violence, and for all who bear the sufferings of Christ in their lives, we pray to the Lord…

For those who are deprived of adequate food or shelter; for the hungry and the homeless, for refugees and for the unemployed; and for all who hunger and thirst for basic human needs, we pray to the Lord…

For the strength to walk the journey of life nourished by our Eucharistic banquet, we pray to the Lord….

For the weak and for those who find in life a burden; for those who experience no hope, no compassion and no charity from their neighbor; and for those who hunger and thirst for justice, peace, and love, we pray to the Lord..

PRIEST: At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father…

COMMENTATOR: Let us all kneel for the Benediction
