Speaker Bios for Plenary January 28, 2009

Kathleen Massey

Kathleen Massey has over 20 years experience working in postsecondary education in Canada, with an emphasis on developing and delivering student-centred services. Her prior experience includes holding senior leadership positions in student affairs at York University, Centennial College, and the University of Calgary.

She has led many major change initiatives with a focus on outcomes achieved through collaboration and integration. Among them was the development of the integrated service centre at the University of Calgary and a facilitative advising model for internationally educated new Canadians in Toronto. Each postsecondary institution she has served has had a distinctive mandate. They have ranged from being highly accessible to highly selective, serving unique communities of students. All have been located in large, urban, culturally and ethnically diverse settings, including Toronto, Calgary and now, Montreal. Working in richly diverse institutions and communities has influenced both the service design and the nature of the integration achieved in each project she has led.

As President of the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada from 2002-2004, she co-hosted the national Service Transformation Summit, a conference designed to promote excellence in the delivery of student-centred services. In 2003, Kathleen was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for outstanding leadership in education and research.

She is now the University Registrar and Executive Director of Enrolment Services at McGill and a partner in the development of McGill’s new integrated service centre.

Mary Jo McCullogh

Mary Jo McCullogh has been at McGill for 30 years and has a long history with integration projects, starting with the integration of Continuing Education records with the day system records in the 1980’s. Mary Jo is the Senior Manager for Student Accounts and was the project team leader for the Banner project with respect to Finance and Student Accounts Receivable.

In recent years she has spear-headedseveral projects which impact services for students in Minerva such as e-billing, guest access, student fee opt-outs and Meal plan top-ups. The opportunity to collaborate in a shared service which will benefit staff and students alike is one not to be missed and an exciting venture for all concerned.
