6:00:OPENING CEREMONY:

6:05:Parachute Activities

  • Popcorn: Place small balls onto the parachute. Shake to make them pop up like "popcorn".
  • Poison Snakes: Place three or four jump ropes onto the chute. Shake the parachute to keep the snakes from "biting" (touching) you.
  • Parachute Tag 1 Lift the parachute high overhead.
Call one child's name and have him/her run to the other side before the parachute comes down and tags them.
  • Parachute Tag 2: Lift the parachute high into the air. Call out two children’s names. They must trade empty spots by running under the chute, before it comes down on them.
  • Mushroom: Standing, lift the parachute waist height. Count to three - with "one" and "two" being small practice lifts. On three, all lift the chute overhead, and crouch down pulling the parachute edges down as well. This creates what looks like a "mushroom."
  • Treasure Under the Sea
Place a variety of 'treasures' (anything you want) into a treasure box under the parachute. Make waves (above)as if in a Sea Storm. Send divers to retrieve called out items one by one from the box.
  • Cat and Mouse
Everyone holds the chute stretched out at about waist height. Someone becomes a mouse and goes underneath. Someone else becomes a cat and goes on top. The rest of the group try to hide the mouse by moving the chute up and down.
  • Flying Parachute Swing the parachute upwards and let it go. Try to keep the parachute floating as long as possible.

6:15: Divide into two's

Each pair has a list of questions on a clip board and a pencil.

Joeys walk along through the park answering questions. Return to park.

6:30: Game: COTTON BALL RACE
Lots of cotton balls, Vaseline, 2 or 4 bowls, tissue paper
• Put a handful of cotton balls in one of the bowls.
• Put the bowl at one end of the area
• Put the other empty bowl on the opposite end
• Rub Vaseline on the child's nose and have them put their nose in the bowl with the cotton balls.
• The object of the game is to get as many cotton balls as possible on their nose without using their hands.
After cotton balls are stuck to their nose, they crawl over to the empty bowl. Joeys then take cotton balls off their nose with their hands and put them in the bowl. (wipe the Vaseline off with a tissue or napkin.)
