Essential responsibilities:

Theatre -

  • Creating a programme of performances suitable to the audience base of The Redgrave
  • Overseeing and contracting bookings from start to finish, including school requirements
  • Building and maintaining the commercial aspect of the business
  • Overseeing and implementing day to day building maintenance and repairs
  • Overseeing all technical aspects of the theatre; staff, equipment & maintenance
  • H&S management; fire risk, electrical, RA writing, MS writing, ensuring compliance from incoming companies & contractors & ensuring training needs for all staff are met, as required
  • Overseeing all marketing associated with performances; brochure, social media, website & local media & press
  • Licensing; PPL, PRS, Ofcom, Local Authority

Bar -

  • Bar stock; ordering, assessing product lines and management
  • Budget overview; pricing and costs
  • Assume the role of ‘Designated Premises Supervisor’

General -

  • Day to day financial; banking cash takings, refilling float, cash control, invoicing, Box Office reconciliation
  • Creating and implementing achievable budgeting across all areas in conjunction with building use
  • Managing all theatre staff including rotas and recruitment
  • Improving and implementing operational procedures to ensure a smoothly running organisation
  • Ensuring legal compliance across all areas
  • Liaising closely with the theatre's board of directors to ensure financial and operational needs are met
  • Be able to speak knowledgeably about all aspects of the work of The Redgrave and to support the organisation’s principal aims and objectives

Additional responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all College Productions & Academic Drama requirements in conjunction with Theatre Technician
  • General customer enquiries
  • Drive to push the quality of The Redgrave in every capacity

Essential experience:

  • Working in a theatre
  • Knowledge of technical theatre aspects
  • Management level experience (Ideally 2 years)
  • Knowledge of theatre operations
  • Excellent mathematical skills

Desirable experience:

  • Venue programming
  • Knowledge of South West programme of Arts and companies
  • Health & Safety qualifications
  • Personal Licence Holder
  • Professional training for example in theatre management, FOH and related skill areas
  • Proven experience delivering commercial targets
