Newman Library Reference Desk
The Writing Center offers free support to all Baruch students. Our professional consultants—teachers of college writing and writers themselves—work collaboratively with you to deepen your writing and English language skills. At any step in the process, we’ll help you become a more independent, confident, and versatile writer.
Visiting the Library
Location
The Writing Center’s Newman Library Reference Desk is located on the second floor of the library, under the canopy to the right after the turnstiles.
Appointments
Students are welcome to schedule the same 50-minute appointments found at the main Writing Center at the Reference Desk. To book an appointment, navigate to and click “Schedule an Appointment.” After logging in with your Baruch credentials, select “Fall 14: Newman Library Reference Desk” to search for open appointments (indicated by white spaces on the schedule).
Walk-in Consultations
In addition to our scheduled appointments, the Writing Center’s Reference Desk location will also see students on a first-come-first-serve basis for 20-minute walk-in consultations. These short consultations are aimed at addressing your contained writing questions and issues. Walk-ins will be seenMonday through Thursday from 10:00AM-3:00PM and do not require an appointment. A waiting list will be held at the Reference Desk to keep track of walk-in reservations.
Please note: Walk-in consultations will not be available on some Wednesdays during the Fall semester between 12:00PM and 2:00PM. Check with the Reference Desk or main Writing Center for more details.
