Internship Responsibilities
Interns will learn more about the operations of nonprofit organizations and will work closelywith experienced professional staff. Spring internship opportunities include:Program, Development, and Communications.

Reporting to the Central Organizer, the Program Internwill work to pass and defend top conservation issues by:1) engaging citizens on conservation issue campaigns, 2) generating and tracking media coverage. The Program Intern will gain skills in field organizing while also learning more about conservation policy.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Intern will play a key role in supporting WLCV’s fundraising efforts, assisting with: 1) donor research and prospecting; 2) membership program support; and 3) the WLCV 10th anniversary event coordination. The Development Intern will gain valuable marketing/fundraising skills and have the opportunity to work on a statewide member recruitment campaign from concept to completion.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Communications Intern willassist with public relations projects and development of our online conservation community by: 1) recruiting a new generation of members to our social networking sites on Facebook and MySpace; 2) encouraging on-line supporters to take action and volunteer; 3) tracking media hits; 4) updating media contacts; and 5) assisting with issue research.The Communications Intern will have the opportunity to experiment with online organizing techniques that compliment traditional field organizing while learning about relevant statewide conservation issues.

Skills Required

  • Organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research on-line or through traditional media.
  • Database management experience and event planning skills a plus.
  • Independently motivated and enjoy working with people.

Details

  • Interns will work from the Madison office of Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters, located ~2 blocks from the Capitol and on the bus line.
  • Interns may earn 2-4 course credits (typically,students earn 1 credit for every 3-4 hours worked per week).The position is unpaid.
  • Interns are responsible for finding a faculty sponsor and meeting all internship requirements of the college or university.
