Girl and grandmother come in. We got him 10 months. Cocaine was in your room. It wasn’t my cocaine – it was my brothers. Trafficking charge is statutory. I’m not pleading guilty. You should take this deal of 10 months. I’m not guilty, I didn’t do anything. I don’t want to lie. I shouldn’t have to lie. I’m not in the wrong. I’m not pleading guilty. Bobby and Lindsay in the office. You are worried that you will wind up like me. Pacing in my office. I’m in between in relationships. If I don’t give the closing of my life tomorrow, a 17 year old girl will lose her life – probably forever.
Closing – if we can’t get a prosecution in this case when can we?
Bobby one of the lawyers was crying knowing that she put someone guilty back on the streets. An innocent person – someone who has been accused of something that they didn’t do. Rachel’s only crime was trying to help her brother. Isn’t that the essence of family? You can choose to disbelieve her – jaded that the police officer did – they all lie. The only thing that you do – is that you don’t know her. I know her and I know that she’s innocent. (He looks like he is going to cry). I tried to teach her some things during this trail – and she ended up teaching me. She has integrity bigger than this room. Lawyers have to play by certain rules; a lawyer can be put in jail. He can’t go up there and say that state didn’t prove its burden. I can say those things. I can’t say that she didn’t commit this act if I know that to be false. That’s the rules. Ladies and gentlemen - Rachel Reynolds did not commit the crime. She is innocent. (That is what his job is). Rachel is innocent (repeated).
