The University of California Office of the President seeks candidates for the role of Principal Counsel - Managed Care. The Office of the President is the system-wide headquarters of the University of California.

Reporting to the Managing Counsel, Health Law and Medical Center Services the Principal Counsel - Managed Care is responsible for providing a broad range of healthcare legal services affecting the University's academic medical centers, health sciences schools, and other clinical operations. The University's academic medical centers form a $7.5 billion enterprise, operating premier quaternary medical centers throughout the State; its health sciences education system is the country's largest, with more than 14,000 students enrolled in 17 health professional schools and programs; and it is among the largest recipients of NIH research support in the United States.

The Principal Counsel - Managed Care is a highly strategic and proactive legal counsel who is well versed in the business dynamics and managed care/health insurance operations of the healthcare industry. This individual is innovative and entrepreneurial and will serve as the lead counsel for reviewing and drafting managed care/insurance contracts and ACO formation and operation related activities. Working with the Managing Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel for Health Affairs, this person will constantly be thinking of better ways to operate and how to structure managed care/insurance related initiatives.
