SCHOOL UNIFORM

Canterbury Girls is a proud uniform wearing school. This is in accordance with Department of Education and Training policy and the wishes of the whole school community – students (represented by Student Representative Council and Prefects), parents and families (represented by the P&C), and staff.

Wearing school uniform presents a positive public image to the community of our school. School uniform also fosters a safer school environment by enabling students to be easily identified. All students are expected to wear full school uniform every day.

In practical classrooms (science labs, food technology rooms, art rooms) enclosed leather style shoes must be worn for safety reasons. Also for safety reasons, jewellery is to be minimal and small.

The uniform supplier is Lowes at Beamish Street, Campsie.

Any family needing financial support to meet school uniform requirements should contact Office C for an application for the Student Assistance Scheme.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO WEAR UNIFORM?

It is your responsibility to wear uniform every day. It is expected all students will organise to have full school uniform every day.

On rare occasions a student may be unable to wear full school uniform. In this case you must bring a signed note from a parent or caregiver, stating the reason and by when it is expected you will be able to wear full uniform.

In roll call any student out of uniform will be issued with a uniform pass for the day. It will be recorded and whether or not you brought a note. If you are mostly or completely out of uniform you will immediately be sent to the Deputy Principal to contact your family.

If you are issued with 3 uniform passes you will be placed in the Time Out Desk in roll call and DEAR time for 4 days (ie.1 week). Your roll call teacher and the supervising executive teacher for your room will discuss your plan to wear correct uniform.

If you are issued with 6 uniform passes you will be placed in whole school Time Outby the Deputy Principal, for persistent non-compliance with school rules. Your family will be contacted and required to attend an interview. A plan will be negotiated for you to return to class and comply with uniform rules.
