The Trustees of Anaconda Public Schools District No. 10 met in A regular Session on August 14, 2013 in the district Board room, 1410 West Park Avenue
Call to Order
Chair Tozzi called the meeting of the School Board of Trustees (Board) to order at 7:00 p.m. The meeting convened with 7 members of the Board present. Glenda Crum, Michael Huotte, Bryan Lorengo, Nick Mikalatos, Lisa Crum-Petritz , Steve Tozzi, and Amy Verlanic were present. Also present were Superintendent Dr. Tom Darnell and District Business Manager/Clerk Kevin Patrick.

Huotte moved to approve the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget. Lorengo seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Huotte moved to approve the Trustees Financial Summary for the 2012-2013 school year. Crum seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Huotte moved to approve the contract with AWARE for CSCT services for the 2013-2014 school year. Crum seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Huotte moved to approve the transfer $2,387 from Fund 121 (Compensated Absences) to Fund 101 (General). Crum seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.

Verlanic moved to ratify the collective bargaining agreement with the Engineers Local 400 for the period from August 1, 2013 through July 31, 2015. Huotte seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Verlanic moved to approve a 1.5% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for 12 month non-union classified employees; Business Manager/Clerk excluded. Crum seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Verlanic moved to approve the amended contract for the Business Manager/Clerk. Crum-Petritz seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Verlanic moved to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the ATU in regards to the 2013-2014 school year calendar. Huotte seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Building and Grounds
Discussion
The Board discussed the annual agreement with Anaconda-Deer Lodge County for jointly-sponsored recreation program and maintenance of Mitchell Stadium. The Board agreed that it would not renew the contract with Anaconda-Deer Lodge County for a jointly-sponsored recreation program and maintenance of Mitchell Stadium.

Business Manager/Clerk Patrick presented the Statement of Activities for Student Accounts for the Board to review.
Motion
Mikalatos moved to approve the MHSA annual dues application and fees remittance in the amount of $4,250 and catastrophic insurance remittance in the amount of $560 for the 2013-2014 school year as presented. Lorengo seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Curriculum

Principal Tony Laughlin reported on the final Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) determinations for the 2012-2013 School Year.
Motion
Crum-Petritz moved to approve the Clinical Affiliate Agreement with Montana Tech for the 2013-2014 school year. Huotte seconded the motion. The motion carried 6-0. Verlanic abstained.
Crum-Petritz moved to approve the amended 2013-2014 school year calendar as presented. Lorengo seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Policy
Discussion
The Board discussed revisiting board policies regarding facilities use, which include #4330, #4330F, and #4330P
Public Comment
Board member Amy Verlanic expressed on behalf of a member of the Friends of SD10 that she was proud of the communication and support between the ATU, PTA, and the community. She expressed that she was proud of what our community did for the kids of Anaconda in regards to passing the Building Reserve Levy.
Jenny Perkins expressed that she was glad to see a large voter turnout for the Building Reserve Election.
James Rosien updated the Board that the Leader hired a new sports editor.
