The following packet introduces you to trench warfare. Please complete the tasks for each of the pages in the packet. The packet is due ______.

*  Using all the information you’ve gained from this packet, write a letter home as if you were a soldier in World War I that was going “over the top” in the morning. Be sure to make clear:
1.  how long you have been on the front.
2.  your experiences of trench warfare and life in the trenches.
3.  at least one battle that you have already lived through (Marne, Verdun, Somme, etc.)
4.  your emotions knowing you will be going “over the top” and into battle in the morning.
Remember, this might be the last letter your family reads.
Your soldier should be from France, Germany or Britain - do NOT let the reader know what country you are from. Drop clues about it. Be aware that your letter might be read out loud.
