Easter is a Season!

Halleluiah ! The Lord is Risen! He is risen Indeed! For many of us Easter is a Day – but for the church Easter is a whole Season! We will Easter until Pentecost! (This year June 4) During the Easter Season, we read lectionary stories of the early disciples and of the appearances that Jesus made to the communities that followed Him, the risen Lord. And we have highlights in our own St. Mark’s journey.

On April 30 we celebrate St. Mark’s Day! Wear Red! Bring a friend! The readings for this day remind us of this youngest of all the disciples, who traveled to far lands to spread the Gospel. May we, like him, spread the Gospel in our thoughts words and deeds!

On May 7, we will celebrate the First Communion of four of our young people. These young people have studied for a year with their faithful teachers. We welcome them as they share the Body of Christ for the first time. They will be at the altar during the Eucharistic Prayers so that they can see “up close.” During the service we will have some explanations – an instructed Eucharist.

Join us at St. Mark’s as we continue to celebrate Easter through this Season.
