THE SUSAN ALYSE GRAHAM ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

  1. General Information

The Susan Alyse Graham Endowment Scholarship will be awarded annually to a North Duplin High School senior, who plans to attend any institution of higher education to pursue their career goals. Scholarship selection will be based on merit and work.

The scholarship will be for a value of $2,000 for one year. Once the student has been selected for the scholarship, the student must complete the Scholarship Verification form and send copies to the Education Foundation and the attending college. Upon receipt of notification of enrollment by the college or university, the payment will be made directly to the college or university. Payment may be made prior to enrollment only if the college or university requires it.

  1. Application Procedures:
  1. Any North Duplin High School senior who meets the criteria may make application. Applications for the Susan Alyse Graham Endowment Scholarship may be obtained from the North Duplin High School principal, school counselor or online at
  1. The application must be completed and returned to the principal or school counselor by the announced deadline.
  1. Rank in class, overall grades, participation in extra-curricular activities and community service will be a consideration.
  1. Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application when it is submitted. A relative may not submit a letter of recommendation.
  1. One letter should be from an individual who is not school connected.
  2. One letter should be from a teacher who taught the student during high school.
  1. Selection Procedures:
  1. The Susan Alyse Graham Endowment Scholarship applications will be given to Mrs. Connie Graham or Mr. Brad Graham for review. The Grahams will return several applicant names to the Guidance Counselor. The Guidance Counselor and the local scholarship committee will select the scholarship recipient from the finalists turned in by the Grahams. The Counselor is asked to select someone not already receiving a major scholarship. The Duplin County Education Foundation Scholarship Committee must approve the award recipient.
  1. The award will be given at the annual M. Austin Carter Awards Celebration. Student applicants are asked to be present.
