HAPPY NEW YEAR

The staff of Mountnorris Primary School would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

CHRISTMAS CHURCH SERVICES

Thank you to the parents and children who attended the Carol Services at Tullyallen Presbyterian Church and Loughgilly Parish Church. The choir and recorder group were a credit to the school. It was lovely to see such a large turnout to support the children.

CHRISTMAS PLAYS

Thank you for your support in attending the Christmas Play prior to Christmas. I’m sure that you will agree it was a very entertaining night. Special thanks to all of the parents who helped the children learn their lines, your work is very much appreciated, and to the members of the Parent Support Group who sold merchandise. If you would like a copy of the Christmas Plays on a DVD please contact the school office or Mrs E Qua. The cost is £5. If you have received your DVD but haven’t yet paid for it please do so as soon as possible.

SCHOOL COUNCIL WINNERS

Well done to all the winners and runners up in the School Council Christmas Competition. Not only did everyone enjoy participating but we managed to raise £126 for the Southern Area Hospice when we combined it with our Christmas jumper day. Well done everyone!

PARENT SUPPORT GROUP

The A.G.M. of the Parent Support Group will be held on Wednesday 22nd February at 7.45pm. All parents are welcome to attend this meeting. Many thanks to the Parent Support Group for their excellent fundraising throughout 2016. Thank you to all of the parents and friends of the school who contributed to our fundraising. A big thanks to everyone who purchased a quiz sheet. The amount raised was £403. The winners are as follows:

All books must be returned to the library van before new books may be borrowed.

SWIMMING DATES

Swimming starts on Tuesday 10th January for P4-P7 pupils. The cost is £3 per session. Please bring swimming gear, a towel and a hat to cover long hair. Earrings are not permitted.

Please take note of the following swimming dates for this term:

10/01/17, 24/01/17, 07/02/17, 21/02/17, 07/03/17, 21/03/17 and 04/04/17.

APPLICATION FOR ENROLMENT

Application forms, together with Admissions Criteria and a Prospectus, for pupils wishing to enter Primary 1 and Reception in the year 2016/2017 have been forwarded to parents whose names we have on our list. If you have not already obtained a form and require one please contact the office immediately. Please forward a birth certificate when returning the form. It is essential that the application forms are returned no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 11th January.

CROSS COUNTRY

The final round of the Flahavans Junior Cross Country will take place on Wednesday 18th January at Banbridge Academy. Further details will follow.

P7 TRANSITION

The Principals of Markethill High School and Newtownhamilton High School will be speaking to the P7 pupils about their respective schools on 9th and 13th January. The P6/7 class will be participating in a sample day at Newry High School on 17th January.

SHARED EDUCATION

The Shared Education project with St. Teresa’s Primary School (Tullyherron) will commence on 30th January for the P6/7 pupils. The focus will be on P.D.M.U. and Art.

HEADLICE

There has been a case of head lice reported in school. Please check your child’s hair and treat as necessary. Treatments are available from any pharmacy.

PARKING

Parents are reminded to park in a car parking space if they wish to enter the school in the morning or afternoon. Please do not leave your car in either lane in the turning circle as it causes an obstruction to other vehicles.
