The Squash Club of The College of William and Mary
I. Mission
The purpose of the club shall be to promote and facilitate the sport of squash at the College.
II. Membership
All undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni shall be allowed to become members of the club.
The status of full membership is reached (a). when one attends at least one-quarter of all the regularly scheduled meetings, and (b). when one pays their clubs dues. Full members receive voting rights in club elections and club amendments.
Anyone that attends less than one-quarter of all regularly scheduled meetings shall not receive said rights.
III. Dues
The elected officials shall determine the exact amount of club dues.
IV. Officers
The officers of the club shall consist of a president, vice president, and treasurer.
Club officers shall be active college students, attending college classes on campus.
The existing elected officials shall create other offices, if necessary.
V. Officer Duties
(a). President
Organize and preside over club meetings and practices.
Communicate with other colleges and arrange all intercollegiate competition.
Direct all practices that he or she can attend.
Report and update the Recreational Sports Office on the activities of the club.
(b). Vice President
Executes all presidential duties in the absence of the president.
Maintain current member roll.
Responsible for updating the roster with the Recreational Sports Office, as well as ensuring that the club meets all appropriate safety and procedural requirements.
(c). Treasurer
Collect club dues.
Manage club finances.
Help submit budge requests to the Recreational Sports Office.
VI. Elections
Elections shall be held on second club meeting following Spring Break.
Only full members, as designated by the vice president, shall be allowed to vote.
Voting shall be submitted through secret ballot.
In the event of a tie, the elected officials shall jointly decide the winner. The decision may be overturned by a two-thirds vote of the club members.
VII. Team
In order to join the team one must be a member of the club.
The team shall be decided by the governing board, and must consist of enrolled students at the College.
VIII. Amendment
This constitution may be amended with the consent of two thirds of the full members of the club.
The changes shall become effective upon its approval by the S.A. Council at the College.
