JOB DESCRIPTIONS
The Squadron Commander is responsible for:
- The accomplishment of the mission and objectives of the cadet corps.
- The appearance, discipline, efficiency, training, and conduct of all cadets.
- Ensuring that all cadets have the opportunity to develop leadership commensurate with their individual skills.
- Administering cadet corps activities according to AFJROTC principles and procedures.
- Scheduling and conducting squadron staff meetings on a regular basis.
- Maintaining the Squadron Commander continuity folder.
- Providing Unit Mission Brief for the unit inspection.
- Making recommendations to the SASI/ASI on matters of the cadet corps (Uniform Wear).
The Deputy Squadron Commander is responsible for:
- Assist Squadron Commander in decision-making process
- Commanding the cadet corps in the absence of the Squadron Commander.
- Assuming any duties as directed by the Squadron Commander.
- Recommending Project Officers to Squadron Commander
- Maintaining the Deputy Commander continuity folder.
- Giving a three to five minute briefing for the unit inspection.
The Executive Officer is responsible for:
- Assisting the Commander and Deputy Commander as necessary.
- Reviewing correspondence and distributing to appropriate staff/project officer for action/information
- Assuming any duties as directed by the Squadron Commander.
- Soliciting updates/feedback and status reports from staff/project officers for staff meeting briefings
- Ensuring calendar review and project updates are completed each staff meeting
- Maintaining the Executive Officer continuity folder.
The Operations Officer is responsible for:
- Assuming command of the squadron in the absence of the Squadron Commander and Deputy Commander
- Plan and coordinate corps extracurricular and co-curricular activities (Model Rocket, Orienteering).
- Schedules base visits, field trips and determines appropriate guest speakers for cadet activities.
- Assuming any duties as directed by the Squadron Commander.
- Maintaining the Operations Officer continuity folder.
The Mission Support Officer is responsible for.
- Assisting the Operations Officer in coordinating physical fitness and recreational activities.
- Assisting to coordinate the following activities by assigning jobs as necessary:
Military Ball
Dining In
Dining Out
Picnics/Field Day
Awards Banquet
Lebanon Invitational Drill Meet
- Arranging transportation as needed.
- Maintaining the Mission Support Officer continuity folder.
The Drill Team Commander is responsible for:
- Assisting the ASI in conducting all drill events and practices
- Assisting the ASI in training first-year drill team commander/members.
- Assisting the Operations/Mission Support Officers in planning drill meets.
- Publishing the Lebanon Invitational Drill Meet package.
The Squadron First Sergeant is responsible for:
- The morale, discipline, and welfare of enlisted cadets
- Forming the squadron for inspections/parades
- Liaison between enlisted members and the squadron staff leadership.
- Discipline, training, and counseling of enlisted cadets.
The Logistics Officer is responsible for:
- Assisting ASI in maintaining uniform and supply records.
- Keeping supply area neat and orderly.
- Requisitioning corps supplies through SASI/ASI, as necessary
- Collecting supply/clothing requisitions from Flight Commanders and requisitioning, as necessary
- Maintaining the Logistics Officer continuity folder.
The Information Officer is responsible for:
- Authenticating, publishing, distributing, and filing of all squadron and HQ AFJROTC publications to include special orders, regulations, and other directives.
- Maintaining the squadron files.
- Taking and publishing squadron staff meetings minutes
- Updating and publishing the OH-771 Cadet Guide by May 31 each year.
- Maintaining the squadron bulletin board and updating web page calendar.
- Maintaining the Information Officer continuity folder.
The Personnel Officer is responsible for:
- Tracking accumulation of cadet credits towards AFJROTC awards.
- Publishing cadet orders for promotions, demotions, awards, decorations and staff duties.
- Distributing and filing all corps administration publications and attendance records.
- Updating the service points.
- Assist ASI in maintaining cadet records and automated JROTC cadet database.
- Maintaining the Personnel Officer continuity folder.
The Public Affairs Officer is responsible for:
- Coordinating with local media in matters of publicity concerning the Cadet Corps.
- Arrange for photos/videos during each corps event
- Publish photos and write news releases to be sent to local media on each corps event
- Providing newsworthy material about the cadet corps activities to the media
- Contact companies or individuals as directed by the squadron commander.
- Maintaining and updating the squadron scrapbook.
- Maintaining the AFJROTC web page.
- Maintaining the Public Affairs Officer continuity folder.
- Writing a quarterly newsletter for the OH-771 AFJROTC web page.
The Finance Officer is responsible for:
- Organizing and conducting squadron fund raisers.
- Assisting the SASI/ASI in collecting, budgeting, and monitoring cadet funds.
- Liaison between the Parents Booster Club Treasurer and the Cadet Corps.
- Provide corps financial reports at each staff meeting.
- Maintaining the Finance Officer continuity folder.
The Flight Commander is responsible for:
- The appearance, discipline, efficiency, and training of the flight
- Starting the daily class as directed by SASI/ASI
- Disseminating and collecting information as necessary to/from flight members
- Assisting the ASI with uniform inspections.
- Leading and directing the flight in all functions.
- Representing flight to the cadet commander, SASI, and ASI.
