The Soul-WinningChurch – Boldness to Speak

2 Corinthians 5:20-21; 6: 1 - 2

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God was pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Romans 10: 13

For “whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

2 Peter 3: 8 - 9

But beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering towards us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Matthew 22: 37 - 40

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind,’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

2 Corinthians 5: 20 - 21; 6: 1 - 2

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God was pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Evangelism is working with Jesus to turn as many souls away from the pits of hell, and to celebrate the victory with Him.

Romans 10: 8-14

But what does it say? “The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the Word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how then shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

Preaching does not happen all by itself; someone has to do it. Disciples and servants of Christ Jesus must be sent and must go… Salvation could only be achieved by Christ’s obedience to the Father and needs our obedience to Christ’s command: “Go into all the world and preach the Good News…”

Luke 4:18-19

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has appointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

When believers are casual about the work of evangelism, it is generally because they do not think it matters much or they are “not up to it.” They feel God is Almighty and can do it all Himself; He does not particularly need us. It may be difficult to believe, but that is how God wants things to work. He created us to be His hands on earth. God is working, but leaves it entirely to us to take the Gospel to the world. If we fail, He has no “Plan B.” It is up to us. The Creator established the order and set us here to be the instruments through which His plans are brought to fruition. If the work is to be done, it will be done with us or not at all.

Romans 1: 16

For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Luke 4:42-43

Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them: but He said to them, “I must preach the Kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.”

Exodus 4:1

Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’”

Exodus 4:10-12

Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

Jeremiah 1:5-10

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Then I said: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me: Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord. Then the Lord put forth His Hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold I have put My Words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.”

Jeremiah 1:17a

Therefore prepare yourself and arise, and speak to them all that I command you.

Judges 6- Gideon

In Gideon:

Gideon saw weakness and inability, but God saw might and valour.

When we see lack and obstacles, God sees opportunities,

When we see failure, God sees potential,

When we see ourweakness, God sees His strength,

When we see death, God sees life,

When we see what is or has been, God sees what can and will be.

Do not dilute or alter the truth. As valid as our opinions may be, it is ultimately the message of God’s Truth that we need to get across to the lost.

Quote from Hell Empty, Heaven Full by Reinhard Bonkke (Page 168, 170)

He is at work when we provide the channel, and that channel is the Word as we preach it and live it and believe it. The Holy Spirit always responds to the Word. The Word is never without the Spirit and the Spirit does not operate without the Word.
