The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts, Inc. (SPWLA) is pleased to accept your paper entitled (fill in

for publication in the Annual Logging Symposium Transactions. Under the terms of the copyright law effective January 1, 1978, we are required to obtain copyright transfer from authors of each paper to allow us to continue our practice of holding copyright for individual articles published in publications sponsored by SPWLA. This policy enables the Society to include papers in the SPWLA Reprint Series, and certain other publications.

The Author is assumed to be the owner unless the work was done within the scope of the author's employment, in which case the employer is the owner. Only one section of the form should be signed: one author may sign on behalf of all coauthors. No manuscript will be published in the Transactions unless the copyright transfer form is signed and returned to the SPWLA business office at 8866 Gulf Freeway, Suite 320, Houston, TX 77017. In the publishing of the manuscript, SPWLA shall control the rights concerning reproduction, reuse, or resale of the Paper. Permission to publish the Paper elsewhere can generally be arranged and other publishers desiring to use or to reproduce any part, or all of the work, must obtain written permission from SPWLA. Owners (authors and commercial firms) retain the right to reprint, reproduce, and distribute the Paper or prepare derivative works incorporating the Paper, provided that such use is for the promotion of its business or professional educational activities or presentations.

Author warrants that

(1)His contribution is an (a) original work not published in copyright form elsewhere in whole or in part, except in abstract form, or (b) if portions have been previously published permission has been obtained for publication in the Transactions, and Author will submit copy of the permission release and copy for credit lines with his manuscript.

(2)He has full power to make this grant, that he is the owner, or if the work was done in the scope of the author's employment, the author has the employer's explicit permission to transfer copyright or the employer himself has signed.

(3)The Paper contains no matter libelous or otherwise unlawful or which invades the right of privacy or which infringes any proprietary right.

Author will receive no royalty or other monetary compensation for the assignment set forth in this agreement. Please indicate your acceptance of the terms of publication by signing, dating and returning this agreement.
