Lesson #17 – Sealing of God’s People

Instructions:

  1. After the Fall of Babylon – and the Mark of the Beast
  2. And after God’s people are in the places where God wants them
  3. God’s people will be sealed to Him
  1. The ancient Hebrews – the Jews

1)Wore their seals – of signets – in rings on their fingers

2)Or in bracelets on their arms

3)The seal itself was usually of wax

4)Into which the owner’s name or emblem was pressed

  1. In the case of a document or scroll

1)A seal was a sign of authentication

2)And protection of all that document or scroll might contain

  1. In the same way,

1)Those people who are sealed to God

2)Will belong to him

3)And he will protect and provide for them

  1. Jesus said he was sealed to the Father
  2. Read: John 6:27 – “Labor not for the meat that perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you; for him hath the Father sealed”
  3. Paul said those who believe in God are sealed to God
  4. Read: Ephesians 1:12-13 – “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ… in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise”
  5. However, I believe there will be a special End Time sealing of God’s people
  1. Even though we may, through our belief in Christ,

1)Already be sealed to him and the Father

2)With the promise of eternal life

3)God’s people will be – and must be – sealed in the End Time

  1. Remember, the Mark of the Beast will be set up

1)In the middle of the last seven years

2)And, those who refuse to take the Mark of the Beast

3)Will separate from the world system

4)Most – not all – will go into places “prepared of God” (Rev. 12:6)

5)Where they will be for the last 3½ years leading up to the Lord’s return

6)But they will all be sealed to God

7)Wherever they are…

  1. After God’s people are sealed

1)The Antichrist will begin to persecute those who have defied his decree

2)And God will begin to pour out his wrath on the wicked

  1. His wrath will begin with plagues that affect
  2. The earth, the trees, the grass, and the sea
  3. Read: Revelation 8:7-9 – The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth; and the third part of the trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

The second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea…”

  1. And, earlier in the Revelation,

1)We’re told that God’s people must be sealed

2)Before God begins to pour out his wrath

3)Read: Revelation 7:2-3 – “I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God… saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads”

A Spiritual Seal

  1. The seal of God won’t be a visible name or mark of some kind
  2. Just as the Mark of the Beast won’t be
  1. A literal, visible mark
  2. On the hand or forehead
  1. God’s people won’t walk around
  1. With “Jehovah” or some other name of God
  2. Tattooed on their foreheads
  1. Any more than those who take the Mark of the Beast
  1. Will walk around with 666
  2. Or a name tattooed on their hand or forehead
  1. The seal of God and the Mark of the Beast are spiritual marks
  1. Based on the choice a person makes
  2. Either for God
  3. Or for the Antichrist and his world system

Questions

  1. According to John 6:27, who has been “sealed” to the Father?
  2. According to Ephesians 1:12-13, who are “sealed” by the Holy Spirit of promise?
  3. According to Revelation 7:2-3, when will God’s people be “sealed in their foreheads”?
