INFORMATION FOR PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION

The Foundation

Serra International Foundation was founded in 1951 to support Serra International’s work of fostering vocations to priestly ministry and consecrated life in the Catholic Church.

What Kind of Projects Does The Serra International Foundation Support?

The Foundation exists to provide resources to further the objectives of Serra International. The major focus of the Foundation is on programs that foster and promote vocations to the ministerial priesthood in the Catholic Church and that encourage and affirm vocations to consecrated religious life in the Church.

It is the general policy of the Foundation not to make grants for the following:

1. Endowment funds, deficit financing or ordinary annual operating expenses.

2. Funding for more than five consecutive years.

3. Other private foundations

Application Procedures and Review Guidelines

A request for the grant must be submitted on the application form provided by the Foundation. Any application may include supporting material and information as deemed appropriate and helpful to the request. Applications must be sent to the Foundation office listed above. A personal discussion or presentation is not necessary.

Awards of grants are made once a year, usually at the Board's annual meeting, for projects that will be funded in the next grant year (July to June).

Applications for grants to be funded in 2016 must be received by 30 September 2015. Grant application must be accompanied by a letter of support from the local ordinary of the diocese in which the majority of the grant work is to take place.

Unless otherwise instructed by the Foundation Board of Trustees, all grant recipients must submit to the Foundation’s office a mid-term progress report by 31 January and a year-end report by 31 July of the next year. After the grant is issued, any adjustments in reporting deadlines must be approved by the Foundation.

Grants will be decided by the Foundation at a regular meeting of its Board of Trustees after considering the applications before it and the recommendations of its Grants Review Committee.

Priority is given to projects that fully meet the vocation objectives of Serra International.

It should be noted that because of the large number of applications received, not all projects can be funded.
