Committees:

Groomer/Trails:

  • Grooming/Brushing – Bruce Bergsten reported that we have finished grading and mowing for now, but would start again later in the month.
  • We need to check out Okerson Rd. Motion by Bruce Bergsten to be able to spend up to $1000 of work on Trail #4 near Pike's Peak, seconded by Matt Hughes.
  • Trail #6 Bridge – The bids are in, Olson Brothers got the bid, contract was signed, culvert has been ordered and are just waiting to get culvert to start (about 4 weeks). Reminder, we have to pay for the work upfront (about $50,000) and we will get reimbursed.
Mark Schroeder was able to redesignate $6000 for this bridge project.
  • Priem's Bridge – funding was approved and waiting for the permits to place the culvert.
  • Bennett Road – Bruce Bergsten contacted town chair. We are on the agenda for the next town board meeting to explain what we want: the roads need to be signed for us to use the Bennett Road from the rail road tracks to Wild Rivers Trail. Bruce Bergsten cannot be there. Al Makela reported that Eric Shaffer is planning to be there.
  • Brule River State Forest contact signed and just waiting for purchase order to do work.
  • Trail 27 re-route – Al Makela has started the dozing.
  • 18th Street re-route should be open this year. Details are being worked out and the trail through the pit should be ready to go by winter.
  • Blueberry Trail – Grube's have not been doing much work in there, as the area is so wet. Discussion about assisting to get the road/landing froze down for Grube's to get their trucks in.

Northwest Trails Association:

  • Next meeting will be Tuesday, September 6.

Tri-County Corridor:

  • John Deterling missed the last meeting.

AWSC Report:

  • Fall workshop on October 28-30 in Wisconsin Dells.
  • KAOS training meeting October 7-9 in Lakewoods. Zachary Makela will be attending and is asking for assistance with gas expenses. Motion by Bruce Bergsten, seconded by Don Miesbauer to pay for gas for the trip. MPC

Social:

  • Membership Picnic – 20 members paid dues. Notices were sent out for those members needing to renew in October and November. Today we have received 3 on-line renewals.

Unfinished Business:

  • Club shirts and hats are available at Shirts Unlimited, 310 Belknap Street, Superior.
  • By-laws – Eric Shaffer and Donna Bergsten are working on these. A rough draft will be brought to the October 6 meeting.

New Business:

  • Brule River State Forest meeting with Deputy Secretary of DNR, Kurt Theide – Bruce Bergsten attended, along with many other BRSF user groups. We have no complaints working with our officials.
  • Culvert on Ontario Street is placed and gravel work done – this will make things easier to get to the Wild Rivers Trail.
  • Donna Bergsten asked if she could ask Linnea Shaffer to make one of her router snowmobile pictures for our club to donate to the Silent Auction at the AWSC Fall Workshop. Motioned by Bruce Bergsten, seconded by Don Miesbauer. MPC.

Meeting adjourned at: 7:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Donna Bergsten

Next Meeting: September 15, 2016 at Twin Gables
