CALL FOR PROPOSALS

PRE-CONFERENCE SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS, AND INSTITUTES

The Salvation Army National Social Services Conference Planning Committee invites you to submit a proposal for a pre-conference seminar, workshop or institute presentation at the 2017 National Social Services Conference.

The closing date for accepting proposals at National Headquarters is Friday, April 29, 2016. You are encouraged to begin consideration at your earliest convenience given the required approval process. You will be notified by June, 2016, if the proposal has been accepted.

Please review the GUIDELINES and the attached CONFERENCE PROPOSAL FORM to ensure your understanding of the expectations, opportunities and process. Submit the attached form when completed with signatures.

GUIDELINES

  1. Proposals should be relevant to the conference theme:Gateway 2017: Connecting to Mission - Equipping to Serve; should draw on the experience and expertise of the presenter(s); and, ideally should engage participants actively in the presentation.
  1. Proposals must be approved by the presenter’s supervisor, divisional commander, divisional social services director, and the Territorial Social Services Secretary PRIOR to submission to National Headquarters.
  1. There may be more than one presenter for a proposed session, but there must be one lead presenter who will also serve as the primary contact.
  1. Pre-Conference Seminars will occur on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 only. They are scheduled for the entire day from 9:00am to 5:00pm with a one -hour lunch break. The Seminars are designed to provide in-depth information and training on a particular and relevant subject.
  1. Workshops and Institutes are scheduled during the daytime on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (April 5, 6, and 7). These presentations (90 minutes minimum) are intended to provide introductory and overview information as well as advanced knowledge on a subject matter. Moderators will be assigned to each session to assist with room set up, general facilitation of the session and introduction of the presenter(s).
  1. Presenters planning to participate in the National Social Services Conference, other than the day of their session, register and pay the conference registration fee. Presenters are also responsible for all their expenses: travel, lodging and the cost of materials, including the cost to print copies of their presentations.
  1. Please use your experience, knowledge, creativity, passion and vision to structure your proposals. The Committee will consider proposals in the following areas:
