JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Admiral Nurse Service Administrator

Reporting to: Lead Admiral Nurse

Role Purpose: To define, fund and deliver a quality and flexible response to welfare needs and provide a comprehensive administrative and secretarial support service to the Admiral Nurses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  To open, sort and prioritise the Department post, and prepare draft correspondence as required and appropriate. To redirect post as necessary to ensure action is taken on urgent items, whilst ensuring that the originator is advised of the primary action taken.

2.  Assist the Lead Admiral Nurse in the collation of statistical information and that it is easily referenced, and readily available.

3.  To ensure filing is kept appropriately up to date. Initiate new filing systems where appropriate which may be easily accessed by relevant personnel.

4.  To collate referrals and contact clients to arrange visits, and close down referrals as requested and report any issues to the Lead Admiral Nurse. Log all activity on WCAS.

5.  To compile weekly and monthly reports on departmental activity.

6.  To be responsible for the ordering, storage and distribution of departmental stock for fitters as necessary on a regular basis.

7.  To be the first point of contact in dealing with telephone and correspondence enquiries relating to the Service and to refer on as appropriate without delay.

8.  To log all complaints and instigate the complaints procedure as required through the Lead Nurse.

9.  To undertake typing and preparation of presentations for the Lead Nurse and other Nurses as required.

10. Keep abreast with government policy and changes affecting government giving and monitoring social needs in the veteran community.

Any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by the line manager or Head of Department/Division.
