The Routine of Dormitory for International Students

1. Strictly follow all rules concerning foreign student management from Nanjing University, the Institute of International and the dormitory.

2. A dormitory deposit of RMB 600 for the articles and RMB 50 for the room key are required upon check-in. When you pay your article deposit, please carefully check the listed items against those you received. Please also appropriately use and care for these items and the room key so that we are able to return the 650 yuan deposit when you check-out. If there are losses or damage to the goods, we will remove the appropriate amount from your deposit before returning it. Please retain your deposit slip. If it is lost, the deposit will not be returned.

3. Long-term residents will be given priority in getting a room and the dormitory will provide rooms to short-term residents if there is space. For short-term residents (less than 1 term), the room will be charged with the short-term residents price.

4. Payment:

(1)Long-term:You can pay the whole amount for your whole stay when you check-in (If you decide to check out before agreed date, RMB1000 will be taken from your full payment as a liquidated damage, and the room charge for the rest of the month will not be refunded either );You can also pay a room reservation fee of RMB 1000 in advance, and pay the remaining amount monthly. Monthly payment should be completed 25th -30th the month before. If you check-out before your scheduled date, the 1000 RMB fee and remainder of the month’s rent won’t be refunded.

(2)Short-term:Please pay the full amount for the whole stay when you check-in.

5. If you are one of two students living together in a room and your roommate decides partway through to check out and not continue his/her contract, within one week you will be moved to another room with a roommate. If you are not willing to change rooms, you will be required to pay of the favored student price (see Form A) for the other bed in your room.

6. International Students Apartment Building rent includes two degrees of free electricity per bed per day (3 degrees per bed per day in Nov. Dec. Jan. and Feb.). The free electricity will be credited to your meter before the sixth day of each month. In case of using more than this amount of electricity, please go to the first floor service desk to purchase more electricity. Each time you buy electricity, you must purchase at least 100 degrees.

7.The Internet is available at each room of the International Students Apartment with a monthly fee. Internet access fee of present month will not be refunded when you check out.

8. Please take care of your card key. You may not lease your room to others. If you do, management reserves the right to take back your room.

9. Please be aware of your visa expiration date to ensure your stay is legal.

10. Please put your valuables in the safety deposit box in the room.

11. Do not destroy fire safety and other communal equipment. Do not put personal items in public places (for example: room doorways, hallways, stairway entrances, student kitchens, public restrooms, etc.). Personal items found in public places will be thrown away.

12. It is strictly forbidden to throw items out windows, hang clothing outside windows, or put flower pots and other items outside windows. Do not throw trash or other items into urinals and toilets.

13. Do not draw or paint on room walls. Do not hammer nails into the walls or hang clotheslines. (Hanging clotheslines from fire sprinklers is especially forbidden.)

14. Do not cook or use high-voltage appliances in your room (For example: electric blankets, heaters, rice cookers, induction ovens, microwaves, etc.). When cooking with the hot plate or microwave in the communal kitchens, please do not leave while items are cooking or simmer stews for long periods of time.

15. In order to avoid fires, do not let electric appliances (such as lamps, wiring boards, chargers, etc.) come in contact with blankets, mosquito nets, cardboard boxes, or other easily burnable items.

16. Do not smoke in bed, throw cigarette butts, or light fires (including alcohol burners, candles, incense, burning paper waste and other items, etc.)

17. Do not keep flammable, explosive, corrosive, or poisonous items in the dorm rooms.

18. No pets or any other animal is allowed.

19. Please keep it nice and quiet in your room or in the public area. Please keep the volume down when you use stereos.

20. The dorm opening hours is from 8:00 to 23:00 every day, if your guest wishes to stay overnight in the dormitory, you need to register your friend at the first floor service desk. Please check out before 12:00PM. You will be ask pay half day rent if you check out from 12:00-18:00, full price if you check out after 18:00.

21. International students wishing to hold a party or large gathering should first request approval from the school.

22. In order to better implement the international student dorm management rules, hotel management reserves the right to conduct unannounced safety and health inspections.

23. All international students are requested to please carefully read and strictly follow the above rules regarding electricity usage, fire safety, theft prevention, and public health and safety. Damage due to negligence or violation of the rules must be compensated in full by the person who caused it, and full legal responsibility will be pursued.
