Fundraising Intern

The role will be based in the AMAR Foundation’s London Office in Vauxhall.

Job Purpose:
The Fundraising Intern will assist the Head of Fundraising in improving and growing all aspects of fundraising for the AMAR Foundation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Fundraising Intern’s duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- To assistthe managementof AMAR’s incoming donations;
- To assist the Head of Fundraising with donor engagement;
- To work closely with other departments across AMAR, namely Communications and Projects to develop new and existing AMAR appeals;
- Supporting with event organisation and management;
- Collating invitation lists for AMAR events;
- To support and develop AMAR’s community, challenge and student fundraising.
- Providing research support;

Desired Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience:
The following qualifications, skills and/or experience would be an advantage:
- Experience of fundraising in a work/university/other environment would be desirable;
- Experience of organising or running events in different contexts;
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint;
- Experience using CRM systems would be beneficial, namely Salesforce;
- Experience of working in a high-pressure environment and as part of a team;
- Understanding of, and interest in, the Middle East region and culture;
- Arabic language would be an advantage, but not essential.
Conditions of Work:
The Fundraising Intern is an unpaid role.
Hours and days of work are flexible but it is expected that the successful candidate will work between 2-3 days per week, normally between 0930hrs to 1730hrs, starting in January-February 2017. Occasionally, the Fundraising Intern may be asked to work outside these hours in order to meet tight deadlines or assist in out of hours activities. The internship is open-ended in duration, however it is expected that in order to gain most from the position that it will last a minimum of 3 months.
The successful candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK. Applicants called for interview will be required to provide proof of residency (e.g. passport, birth certificate accompanied by photo ID and a valid visa if subject to immigration control) before the interview takes place.
Additional Information:
The Fundraising Intern will work directly with AMAR’s Head of Fundraising in the London Office, primarily helping to manage the Fundraising Department. Additional work may occasionally be required, for example assisting in fundraising events which are outside normal office hours.
Upon completion of the internship, the successful candidate will have gained a good understanding of the organisation of a busy charity, experience working as part of a busy fundraising team and the skills required to function in a wider office-based work environment.
