AMITY TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION

REGULAR MEETING

May 14, 2014

The Regular Meeting of the Amity Township Planning Commission was held at the Amity Township Municipal Building located at 2004 Weavertown Road, Douglassville, and Berks County, PA. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Terry Jones at 7:00 P.M. with a salute to the flag. The following people were in attendance:

Steve Chieffo moved seconded by Dwight Buckwalter to approve the meeting minutes from April 9, 2014. Motion Carried 3-0.

Zoning

Ms. Jen Greenwald-Conditional Use-Leaf Creek House-207 Old Philadelphia Pike

The planning commission reviewed the updated zoning application. Mr. Jones reported the Board of Supervisor’s reviewed the application at their meeting May 7, 2014. Terry Jones moved seconded by Steve Chieffo to recommend this application for approval to the Zoning Hearing Board.

Wendy Reinhardt-1228 Old Airport Rd

Mr. Jones questioned if the adjoining neighbor closest to the building has an objection to the building being closer to his property line. Mr. Marburger stated the neighbor has no objection and he will have a letter from him stating this at the hearing. This application also was reviewed by the Board of Supervisor’s at their meeting May 7, 2014. Steve Chieffo moved seconded by Dwight Buckwalter to recommend this variance to the Zoning Hearing Board. Motion carried 3-0.

Other Planning Commission Items

Hess Corporation – Zoning Hearing

Mr. Mike Gavin presented a revised plan that will require a new Zoning Variance. The underground unleaded tanks now have approval to be relocated therefore allowing the placement of the diesel pumps closer to Old Airport Road. Mr. Gavin stated the new layout is designed for the diesel trucks in and out of the site with ease. The setback infringement is less than the previously approved layout. The pumps are designed with the latest technology and high speed filling. Mr. Lyon requested Hess Corporation place no diesel truck idling signs at the site. Mr. Gavin agreed and stated Hess does not wish to have any trucks idling at the site and have no parking spaces designed for this use. Steve Chieffo moved seconded by Dwight Buckwalter to recommend this new layout and variances to the Board of Supervisors and Zoning Hearing Board. Motion carried 3-0.

AMERICAN CRANE-Mr. Lyon reported American Crane today completed a purchase of 33 1/3 % land ownership in a parcel behind their property.
