The Redwoods Group Moves from AIG to Zurich

MORRISVILLE, North Carolina (April 08, 2014) – The Redwoods Group, a specialty property and casualty insurance provider and risk consulting firm, and Zurich North America, a leading insurance provider, today announced that Zurich will be the primary insuring carrier for Redwoods beginning August 1, 2014. The new relationship will help The Redwoods Group continue offering a rich array of consulting and risk transfer products and services to youth-serving organizations, including YMCAs, Jewish Community Centers and resident camps.

“Zurich is aligned with our social mission and our underwriting, risk consulting and claims management philosophies. After a deliberate process of reflection about the future, our leadership selected Zurich as the best carrier to help Redwoods scale our mission and fulfill our stakeholder responsibilities,” said Kevin Trapani, President and CEO of The Redwoods Group.

Under the new relationship, Redwoods will perform most traditional insuring functions on Zurich’s behalf, from underwriting and policy issuance to risk consulting and claims handling, in youth-serving markets. Together, the two companies will select reinsurance carriers to safeguard the program’s portability and stability. Zurich will share its regulatory expertise and product development capability, enabling Redwoods to innovate in ways that are consistent with the needs of its customers.
