The Raven Parody

The Raven Parody

“The Raven” Parody

  • You must perform a dramatic reading (including the use of a prop of some kind), and you must submit a typed copy of your poem.
  • The poem does not have to be memorized. However, the typed copy must be submitted BEFORE you present. So, if you do not memorize your poem, you will need to walk into the room with TWO typed copies.
  • Work that is not typed and double spaced will not be accepted. No exceptions. No excuses. (Get your work done early to avoid technical and logistical problems!)

If you are successful in writing and presenting a poem that sounds like “The Raven”:

  • 10 points will be added to your writing-project grade for the quarter
  • one day late = 5 points will be added to your writingproject grade for the quarter
  • two to five days late = no points added to, or subtracted from, your writing project grade for the quarter

If you turn in a COMPLETE project on time or up to five days late, present, but your poem does not sound like “The Raven”:

  • no points added to, or subtracted from, your writing project grade for the quarter

If you hand in an incomplete project, if you do not present, if your project is more than five days late, or if you do not hand in a project:

  • deduct 10 points from your writing project grade
