ThefollowingtablespecifiestheactivitystatusofactivitiesintheAirportApproachPathoverlay.

DetailedheightrestrictiondiagramsforKaiparaFlatsAirfield,NorthShoreAirfield,AucklandGlidingClubandParakaiAirfieldarecontainedinthisoverlaysectionoftheUnitaryPlan.AucklandAirport(AIA),WhenuapaiAirbaseandArdmoreAirportdiagramsarecontainedinthedesignationoverlaysectionoftheUnitaryPlan.

2.Developmentcontrols

2.1 Height

1.Buildings,structures,mastsandtreesmustnotexceed8minheightortheheightlimitswithintheairfieldheightrestrictionsshowninclause3AirportApproachPathMaps1­4below,whicheveristhelesser.

2.Abuilding,structure,mastortreethatdoesnotcomplywithclause2.1isaprohibitedactivity.

2.2MeasuringHeight

1.Indeterminingcompliancewithclause2.1.1,thefollowingcontrolsapply.

2.Atanypointwheretwosurfacesoverlapandareatdifferingelevations,thelowerofthetwosurfacesapplies.

3.TheheightcontrolsconsistofthreeseparateheightcontrolsaroundNorthShoreAirfieldandtwoaroundKaiparaFlatsandParakaiAirfieldsasfollows:

a.Takeoff/landingfans

i.Thesefansextendfor5.5km(northShore)and1.2km(KaiparaFlatsandParakai)fromeachendofeachrunway.Theheightlimitbeginsatgroundlevelandrisesataslopeof1in40(NorthShore)and1in20(KaiparaFlatsandParakai).

b.Transitionalsidesurfaces

i.Thisheightrestrictionrunsatrightanglestotherunwaystripandthecentrelineofthefans.

Theheightlimitbeginsatgroundlevelattheedgeofrunwaystripandrisesataslopeof1in7(NorthShore)and1in4(KaiparaFlatsandParakai)toamaximumheightof45metres(NorthShore)and2metres(KaiparaFlatsandParakai)abovetherunwaygroundlevel.Thisheightlimitalsoappliesfromtheoutsideedgeofeachfan,thesurfacerisingatthesameslopestoamaximumheightof45metres(NorthShore)and2metres(KaiparaFlatsandParakai).

c.Horizontalsurface

i.Allpropertieswithin2.6kmofNorthShoreAirfieldaresubjecttoahorizontalheightcontrolwhichis45metresabovetheaveragerunwaygroundleveli.e.107metresabovemeansealevel.ThereisnohorizontalsurfacecontrolforeitherKaiparaFlatsorParakaiAirfields.

4.Allheightcontrolsareaffectedbytheelevationoftheproperty,andheightlimitsmustbeassessedintermsofelevationrelativetotherunwayitself.

5.Appendix2.1providesdetailedguidanceonhowtoassesswhetheraproposalcomplieswiththeheightcontrols.
